Hotel we're staying at in Guangzhou is 南航明珠商務酒店 (Guangzhou Southern Airlines Pearl Business Hotel), the address is at 广州 越秀区 环市西路181号 (No.181 Huanshixi Road,Yuexiu District, Yuexiu District - Railway Station, Guangzhou, China).

Hotel in Shenzhen is Caiyue Hotel (Colourful Inn), at 梅龙路 邮政编码: 518109 (Meilong Road, 518019 Shenzhen, China).

also, what mode of transport is the fastest and best way to get to Shenzhen from Guangzhou, and where?

paiseh never go China before therefore the noob questions :s34:

thanks in advance! :o

From Guangzhou to Shenzhen, take the train.

It is evident that those trains from Guangzhou East are faster and more numerous, so you can go for those. The destination should preferably be Shenzhen, which is the station at the Luohu border. Alas, your hotel in Shenzhen is far from there and all the action. Your hotel is very near to Shenzhen North station. However I doubt there are trains from Guangzhou or Guangzhou East to Shenzhen North, so it is better that you take a train to Shenzhen and rely on the MRT to get to your hotel.
Your hotel in Guangzhou appears to be very close to Guangzhou main station which also has MRT, so you can basically get anywhere.
Shopping for clothes in Guangzhou- Shangxiajiu (Changshoulu MRT), Beijing Lu (MRT of same name or Gongyuanqian)
Shenzhen- Laojie MRT
Those are pedestrian-only streets. For fabrics and tailors, look in the other thread.
For electronics in Shenzhen, Huaqiangbeilu or Huaqianglu MRT. The action is all around, in the buildings, and each one specialises, so you have to be clear what you want.

Thanks! This is helpful.

But, if we were to take the cab from our GZ hotel to Shangxiajiu, roughly how much would it be and how long does it take? Cause I searched, it takes about 2 hrs to get there by metro.

Where do you recommend to get electronics from in GZ? We're going tomorrow..

The places mentioned here are accurate for electronics. http://www.chinahighlights.com/guangzhou/shopping.htm
However, Shenzhen should have a better experience.

If your hotel is really near the main Guangzhou station, taking the metro to Shangxiajiu is not going to take 2 hours, but 20 min! By all means, take a taxi since it will be able to drop you at say, the Holiday Inn or the Mdm Tussaud's there.

For this particular appliance, I do not know if it is even appropriate to buy in China. Nevertheless you can look up Gome 国美and Suning苏宁, akin to Courts.
