hi guys after finished painted the parts i use mr hobby gloss coat but damm the effect comes out to be like white dusty coating layer... wonder whats wrong? btw i spray at a room with window open and spraying @ around 30 cm away but i still get the dull effect and is not even gloss any advice tyvm now i got to use isopropyl alcohol to wipe it away and spray with black paint and do it again for the details

Open window.. how was the weather like when u did your spraying? Moist? Raining? Chilly?
Sounds like frosting imho.
Try not to spray on cold days/raining. Frosting tend to occur more easily.

you got frosting with a gloss topcoat? usually it only happens with the flat coat.

sidetrack a little bit , just wanna ask all the bro here , how did u guys manage to make time for gunpla esp for those that are working?>_<

As much as we all love mecha and gunpla but seriously gunpla need lot of patience and most importantly the time to delicate to it.

Of course we are not looking for professional result build but at least a decent painted nice looking detail kit that live up to our expectations, All these are really time consuming esp the sanding part that took up most of it and it really daunting to sand them part by parts..

For me i think i can only manage to build about 3 MG kit a year given the busy schedule , how about u guys?

i only do on weekends, so one weekend draw panel lines, wait for them to dry, next weekend spray gloss over. Takes about 1 month plus to finish one SD kit if I am fast.

Not saying the end results is very pro also

u can try hobbypoint at bras basah complex, they have a lot of older kits

OG dept store is another place with a wide range of gundam kits, but they are not cheap

Eh why nt wait for the gundam expo at nex this year? 21 sept onwards, think there will be lucky draw and discount, u get to see gals cosplay as as well..

Normally after i finished a MG kit , it will take maybe 3 to 4 months later before i start a new one. The amount of patience ,time and energy needed to delicate to a gunpla kit is kinda too much for me to handle. So no more than 3 MG kit a year for me. >_<

But don't get me wrong , i really do love gunpla from the bottom of my hearts , haha

Really need discipline for this , haha , imagine after a long day at work , come back still need to work on gunpla and for those that is working on it during weekend , it like a weekend burn...A very unique hobby that require great amount of time and $$

hi there , i am definitely not a pro in gunpla. Just someone who learn a bit from here and there on the net.

hmm , My advice for u is to to get the HG(high grade) kit first , HG 1/100 or 1/144 kit , reason is because HG kit are cheaper and relatively easier to build than MG(master grade) kit , it will be a good start for u to learn more about gunpla and the basic techniques that is require in gunpla. From there , when u are slowly getting comfortable with your skill and knowledge of gunpla, ask yourself whether u really love this hobby , if you are , than move up to MG kit and finally the PG(perfect grade).

In my own humble opinion , I personally feel that MG kit and above should be painted and detailed. The outcome is really awesome and stunning if u really put your heart and soul therefore it is worth it. This is where u decide whether u want to invest more into gunpla for the equipment , example : airbrush or spray cans , a good cutter , mr mark softer , mr mark setter etc (too many to list>_<)

This is coming from someone who started with HG kit using only scissors(cannot make it!), brittle pieces join together , it feel as if just one tiny little touch is enough to make the whole kit snap..really horrible build , but than again , it is from there where i learn slowly.

Given the technology nowadays , information is available everywhere on the net, if u really want to start on this hobby , do some research first , be it on the net or through youtube video. There are tons of information out there , we modelers nowadays have it easy compared to modelers from the past , where they really have to do it by trial and error or by spending more $$ on these guidebook for information. kinda respect them. haha

Nevertheless , I hope u have fun building your first kit and welcome to the gunpla family if u gotten serious into it! hehe

Hi guys, I have a question about spray booth.

I have been using cardboard box + 3M respirator while airbrushing. My family is complaining of the smell in the house though. I don't mind spending money on the spray booth, but I'm afraid neighbours would complain of the smell.

If we put the exhaust hose out the window, will there be a lot of smell coming out from the hose? I see the description of the spray booths on sale and they seem to have built in filters. Would the filters absorb the smell already?

Anyone has experience putting out the exhaust hose in HDB flat window?
