Where in Singapore to get a good pair of side cutter for gundam and is it that acto knife help to settle everything??

I got the Tamiya sharp pointed cutters 74035 from hobby kulture for about $38.50 last tues. The opening hours are kinda funny but definitely cheaper than many places i've seen. Can try...

I only started recently but after building about 13 HG kits, i find that the only tools i need are the side cutter, a fine cut tamiya file, and maybe a good pen knife. I have an art knife (Xacto) but hardly use it - too sharp. lol

So the process is to use a cheapo side cutter to remove the pieces from the runners. Trim with the good side cutter, then use the file to remove nub gently. After that probably use a pen knife to clean off the edges. I'll be painting them later, so not too concerned about rough surfaces.

If you're not painting, maybe side cutter and art knife to clean up.

My tools, the Tamiya cutter will be used all the time to cut the parts out from the runners. I will leave some bits so that I can use the needle file to trim the excess down near to the part surface. I will then sand it over using P1000 sandpaper from Tamiya.

Nice! After going on a tools/accessories buying spree, i realized that many of them are not useful and that i've wasted quite a lot of $$$.

Good learning lesson tho - the paint trays can get from mac's disposable saucers, use toothpicks or cotton buds stems to stir paints, industrial sandpaper from hardware shop - they range about 40-50 cents per A4 size.

Can't skim on plastic cutters, and art knife.. i tried but was sorely disappointed.

Daiso has nail files sticks, tweezers, diamond files, cutting mat, etc for $2 each.

Next major purchase will be airbrush/compressor... headache~

Kenneth, good advice will keep that in mind but i'm using water-based paints mostly.

For hardware shop sandpaper from Ban Hoe Lee coz it's below my block, the silicon carbide water-proof abrasive paper from korea comes in many grades - 360, 400, 500, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000cw.

Rough gauge, 400, 600, 1000cw will be fine set in Tamiya equivalent, 1200, 1500, 2000cw will be super fine.... but since i didn't buy Tamiya sandpaper, take it with a pinch of salt.

The whole set costs less than 5 bucks though. Will also experiment with the bosny matt clear and anchor spray paint from hardware shop. About half the price of Mr Hobby's and double the volume. If anyone has tried it before and didn't like it, please tell me first

Just to check, anyone knows of any fake MG rx78-2 ver 3.0 around? I gonna buy one from carousell and quite new to this hobby. So thinking of reading up on any tell tale signs if possible.

the saucers use the one from buffet lunch. the wax-fire can-thing. use the cap.
i use few times and throw. since usually use for panel-lining,1-2 days can complete, after that throw.

stirrer just buy the one from tamiya (i didnt manage to find a non-tamiya stirrer). not sure how much, should be $3 or $7 for a pair. its better because using toothpicks etc are harder to stir because of the point they have.

some cutter seems broader and some have a more narrow, sharper head.

and anybody have website/review on metallic paints? eg mr hobby chrome, gold, bronze etc.

Oh... i heard the metal scraping the bottle and got goosebumps. Cannot tahan that sound. The tamiya stirrers $6 for a pair but can substitute with toothpicks, kopi-cup stirrers, etc - but i use water-based paints. So maybe metal stirrers or spoons only options for laquer based paints. As long as it works.

The best plastic cutter as nominated by many people is Godhand Ultimate Nipper but it's always soldout or long waiting list. The price on eBay is like $80-110 which is crazy price to pay.

The next better option (for me) is Tamiya sharp pointed cutters for better price-performance. I think Tamiya have 3 top-end plastic cutter - No. 1, No. 35, and the pic you posted No. 123

I think no. 1 was the original. no. 35 is the workhorse, and no.123 is for cutting gates. Any one will do actually, although i'd go with 35 or 123. Personal opinion hor?

The fake Gundam brands like Gao Gao, Daban, Dragon Momoko are quite proud of their products, so their logo will be replacing the original Bandai one. Apart from that, don't think there's any RX78-2 Ver. 3 fakes around. They got the Ver 2 though.

The Tamiya sharp cutter 35 is probably your best companion for cutting.

God-Hand gives you a good feel when cutting the parts away from the runner, that is pretty about it. Seen a God-Hand went brunt because it does not have the brute force to cut away certain parts away or trimming.
