I'm a noob here but I'll share my experience with you.
Started out with hand painting and markers, works well with small parts, but for big parts it's quite difficult unless you can hand paint really well.

Now I've moved on to using spray cans and for larger parts, it really makes alot of difference. Small parts I'll use hand paint or markers still if I find the area hard to spray. (require too much masking)

Next step if possible will be to move on to airbrush, but that's for another day. So, there might be different opinions, but for me it's easier to hand paint small parts and details, but for bigger surface area, spray paint is definitely easier.

Both ways of painting have their pros and cons.
For handpainting, people usually do it for small details because handpainting large areas need alot of skill to do and achieve less brush marks.
Spray painting gives you a more neat and even paintjob, but is more expensive as the cost of spraycans build up over time.

If you are serious into this hobby, i do recomend you to go airbrushing, because it gives the most versatality in terms of the colours available and also u can mix your own custom colors. which is not possible with spraycans. Airbrushing also gives you more control of the paint.

For people who wishes to learn airbrush but cannot afford the mainstream setups that cost over $200, I have airbrush+ mini compressor kits available at <$80 per set. Send me a pm for more details.

Thanks for your tips! I tried hand painting my god gundam. Painted all the white parts gold and the blue parts red to create a partial hyper mode effect (can't upload images yet :( ) But yea it was extremely tedious, had to sand down some parts and repaint again to minimize the ugly brush marks. Should have consulted you guys earlier haha :p And yea I'm thinking of getting a proper airbrush after I've saved up enough. But for now gonna experiment with spray paint first, still have a few kits to experiment with.

And one more question apart from the vibrancy of colour, are there any other differences between enamel paint and acrylic paint? I went to HAG and the shop owner recommended enamel paint. But the smell of the thinner kills me all the time and it's really a pain in the as* to watch the paint off the brush >.<

I went before but didn't visit the paid exhibition though. Nothing really unless you want to take picture with the life size Gundam, there's the usual exhibit of gundam kits. Basically doesn't give me the "wow" factor. If u got spare time, why not or if u want to visit shopping malls.

it's workable.. just thin down the paint more so it will not have brush mark.. if U wann paint get a proper respirator.. likewise ur kill urself without u knowing it.. I personally finished a handpaint kit faster than spray paint as I do free hand without masking.. but honesty speaking the big surface the best is use airbrush.. handpainting can near beat airbrushing surface finishing for large surface.

The public display quite a huge collection of Gunpla over the years, some award winnning kits too. Then the merchandise which is open to public walk in too. The rest paid entrance which u can refer to their website.

Basically Daiba area are shopping malls. There's a Nissan or Honda (which I can't recall) exhibit showing you their technology and cars in the other mall Zepp Tokyo (where the ferris wheel is). It was closed for major reno during my last trip there mid this yr I think.

I went today. Only 2 MG sets - Gundam Wing EW $35, Dark Hound $40. A lot of HG Gundam Age sets at $10, worth buying are Age FX, Full Glansa, Full Orbital, Fortress, Age 3 Normal, etc. Last time the sale didn't have these sets.
