I get my kits when I go KL for business trips. There is barely any markup from the Yen price on the box, just convert to RM.

Of course, in Japan you can get another 20-30% off the box price, so cannot compare. :)

Yup, Japan is really heaven for Gundam shopping, the only problem is having enough space to lug back the kits, 4x 1/100 MG Sinanju takes up 1 standard luggage :s13:

Every year go once for holiday and stock up for the whole year :s7:

do you guys go to any shops to buy your kits? or buy from rakuten.sg? I know some of the kits on rakuten have free shipping. which provider do they use?

the only shops around my area are only Comic Connection & Kiddy Palace, although the latter has quite a lot of kits for each grade but I hope theres other shops with more variety.

edit: nvm about the shops.. will go to Tiong Bahru Hobby Point to ssll first

quite curious to start doing a kit, so far only have experience with HG kits but never do any add-on stuff like painting/water slides. should I experiment on HG kits first or do on RG/MG kits?

rakuten sg has 2 merchants selling gunpla, hobbyzone and bigbox. both are using singpost and ta-q-bin respectively.

dont bother getting kits from these places unless they are having massive sales which is unlikely. if u want to support local then support places like hobbypoint, HAG/HAW as their prices tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum in sg.

i suggest u work with a couple more hg kits then slowly move on to rg/mg. try removing nub marks and panel lining first for a start.

for the flush cutters, they can range from $10 all the way to $60 for the high end ones.. im using a MTC brand one which i bought from sim lim tower for $15+.

knife wise cant rmb but it shouldnt be too expensive.

I had just completed 3 UC MG kits in a row. All airbrushed and decals applied.
Here is 1 of them:

Nu Gundam - biggest 1/100 Gundam so far!

Hi,

My first post in gunpla thread. Hehe..been doing gunpla for awhile.

Just curious, did any one buy from rakuten before? I believe there is only hobbyzone and bigbox.

I wanna to take a step up in gunpla building, getting myself a PG Grade. I saw the price on rakuten which was quite competitive.

Any one can share their experience buying from rakuten?

Thank you!

yeap the kits will be in their original packaging but no shrinkwraps.

Oh okay! Thx!

Btw, anyone tried building a PG without any paint here before? I know it sounds crazy..but I am actually planning to do it in no paint method for my 1st PG.

At most I will just get some tamiya spray cans.

Do u'll snapfit then spray paint or actually glue the parts together and sand before painting? Working on a 1/144 HG gundam wing zero I bought a decade back (yes its really a decade ago) and the seamlines are driving me mad.
