Hi, my family and I will will be going to Taiwan for the first time.

Trip from 4th Dec to 9th. So i have planned the following and would like to seek your recommendation.

Day 1(04/12)
Arrive in Taoyuan at 2.50pm
Take kuokang or taxi to hotel in ximending
Settle down in hotel and walk around ximending and have dinner there? Any food suggestions?

Day 2 (05/12)

Day trip to Yeh Liu, Jiufen, Jingguashi, Shifen, Keelung Night market
Have a driver to bring us around

Day3 (06/12)

Chiang Kai Sek Memorial Hall
Longshan temple
National Taiwan Science Centre (Can Replace with National Palace Museum)
Shilin Night Market

Day 4(07/12)
This is the one I'm not sure what to plan for.
My mum wants to go Taichung but I don't know what is interesting there and I know we have to get there by HSR. Recommendations on what to do here in Taipei or Taichung highly appreciated

Day 5 (08/12)

Dansui Old Street
Fisherman wharf

Day 6 (09/12)

My main concern is whether my Free and easy trip on 06/12 seems ok as I am wondering if i should shift the science centre, national palace museum and shi lin night market to 07/12 (if there are no other suitable recommendations).

Possible activities to replace them can be:
Ximen Red House Theatre
Taipei Cinema Park
Wanian Plaza
Zhong Shan Hall

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You can consider to hire a driver for the day. Pick up at Taichung HSR, drop-off at Fengjia or Yizhong then take a cab back to Taichung HSR then back to Taipei. I can pass you my driver's contact if you require.

This was my itinerary for last week:
Rainbow Village (彩虹眷村)
Carton King (紙箱王)
Lavender Cottage (薰衣草森林)
Sea of Flowers (新社花海)
Gaomei Wetlands (高美濕地)
Fengjia/Yizhong NM (一中街/逢甲夜市)

Some other attractions in Taichung which you can consider:
Sun Moon Lake
Cingjing Farm
Luce Memorial Chapel
Miyahara (there's no queue at night)

Do take note that some attractions like SML & Cingjing will take more time to cover and travelling time from one destination to another should be considered as well.

You can also do without a driver, SML is easily accessible from HSR station. Miyahara is just a few train stations away from HSR, after which you can head to Yizhong then Fengjia to end the day.

If i do Free and Easy Taichung, I guess the best options are lavender cottage, carton box king and then fengjia night market to end the day before taking the HSR back to Taipei?

Or is there a better option? and btw what are the public transport to get to those locations?

If you want a bit of sightseeing before heading to fengjia, xinshe sea of flowers or SML is more accessible.

There's some instructions to getting there by shuttle bus (only available during weekends) and you can get to carton king after visiting xinshe - but have to walk about 2km to carton king from dakeng bridge. https://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Show...he_Sea_of_Flowers_Festival_2016-Taichung.html

This should already take up around half a day and you can get to fengjia university (where the night market is located) by bus 68.

If you're thinking of Taichung city walkabout: Miyahara, Yizhong & Fengjia is very accessible.

Note:
- Rainbow village is near Taichung HSR, accessible by cab but the only worry is that the bus journey to Taichung city will take ard 1hr... if you're taking cab again, costs adds up and it's actually more worthwhile to hire a driver for the day.
- Gaomei is accessible by train/bus... but if you're feeling lazy to go back by bus, driver quotes you NT$1000 to bring you back to the city; if you top up another NT$2500 and you can book a day tour.
