Hi seasoned travellers, i am going on a short trip to malaysia and have no check in luggage. Just a simple backpack and a cabin size luggage. Understand that no liquid is allowed to bring on board. How about my shaving gel? Is this allowed?
Also, i have a gillette shaver(sensor excel) with blade. Can i bring on board?

your gel container stating 100ml or less can carry onboard
the shaver depends on the security personnel
does the budget flight allow a backpack and luggage anyway?

Hmm, if only at airport realize overweight then must pay upfront over the check-in counter (not all may have weighting scale at home to check)?

If bad luck got checked and can't board, try to wear as much as you can on your body. Wear 5 layers of shirt, 2-3 layers of pants. Outer layer go with cargo pants with, big roomy jacket, then start stuffing your items in the pockets. Better still, do all this in front of the gate agents, while holding back the plane if you got check in luggage since they can't fly leaving you without taking out your check in luggage.

Encountered some flights even though your luggage is less than 10kg, they will still want to check in your bags.

Jetstar ever asked me to removed my items from my bag. So i remove it, they weigh, then they happy give me boarding pass. Then get out of the counter, put it back in.

Just try not to be nasty, they usually will close an eye.

Remember they have every rights not to let your board.

Dont see why you have to even resort to holding the plane back. It's a safety measure. Say in the event of turbulence or anything, would you rather have 12kg or 5kg fall on you?

people like these pay a meagre sum of money and think they have the right of way like the recent P J Wong
we should have firm ground staff and customs officer like those in the western country to make such people think twice about flouting rules
the officers and staff are in service line but deserves respect too
they are also giving passengers basic respect by ease of clearance
they should think again, its not the officer/staff honour that such customers go to their counter.
from P J Wong: "Know Your Right" applies to customers and the airport staff

Let me get this straight. You are flouting regulations, and when caught, you try to inconvenience 200+ fellow passengers by holding up the plane? Why not try traveling with less luggage and not being an ass?

Safety shavers ( the regular T-shaped ones, not those with long 10cm long blades) can be brought onboard in hand-carry luggage. No problem.

Shaving gel is allowed if the bottle is not aerosol and is less than 100ml. My suggestion is to shave with soap or baby oil instead.

Lastly, you are allowed 1 luggage and 1 personal bag. So this depends if you can convince the airline that your simple backpack qualifies as a personal bag. How big is it?

As long the backpack does not look overly stuffed, they usually wont bother. In my case, i put the heaviest items there so that the backpack would look as flat as possible. Once on the plane, the backpack put under seat and the carry on put in the bin above.
