I'm asking behalf of my friend who is about to enlist this Thursday. I'm from Spf so confinement is short and for my case I cannot bring big hp with camera. Not sure about saf.asking on behalf of my friend if need can bring 5.5 inch phone with camera or easy say Sony xz into Tekong bmt confinement week. He say he bring only to use after his first book out cause he got no spare phone. So is he able to bring in that kind of phone into bmt without using it? And if the answer is no, he bring and get caught what will happen? He really stress about the situation cause he scared people want to call him but can't reach him.

1) Every Platoon have different rules for each intake. All can bring phone into camp but must surrendered to commander.

2) His time no longer belong to himself. It up to the commander to determine fit to let him use phone or else he will be forever remain un-contactable.

3) In order to stay contactable, he just have to inform all important people who may needs to contact him such as family members, by calling his company phone number & get COS to get him. Most likely he will get his company phone number during first day of enlistment.

Just to clarify to any SPF enlistees enlisting next week on Aug 15, and to any future SPF enlistees, so far, there has not been a case in HTA for bringing in too big a phone. The only requirement is that there is a non functioning camera, or no camera at all.

This happen during my era that we, RECs, have to surrendered our handphone.

In the first place, RECs are there for training & not to perform any official duty to stay contactable.

As REC, they have not earn any right to do what they like such as going canteen break on their own, using of handphone as and when they want & etc.

Hi, I am the most recent batch that just POP'd 1-2 weeks ago. Yes, you can bring in camera phones, there was no restriction on the size of the phone (for my company at least). However, make sure you do not have any pornography materials inside your friend's phone and remind him not to take in-camp picture. I have had too many company mates who got SOL-ed (Stoppage of Leave) for 7 days just because of this. Sometimes, the military police will conduct a surprise raid on your camp and check your photo galleries and whatsapp. If he wants to do so otherwise, it's fine as well, just follow SAF 9th core value : Do but don't get caught. Hope this answers your question! Anything you wanna ask regarding Tekong, feel free to PM me!
