Harbin Early November

Hi all,

Im planning a trip of 6d5n for 4 to Harbin in Early November. Ive already bought my down coat and would like some advise on the weather, some recommendations on the things to do there.

I actually have got 2 batch of dates to go. One is in early Nov, and another is end of Nov. My friend would prefer the latter while i would prefer early Nov because of the upcoming Deepavali PH to play one more day over there without causing too much AL damage. LOL. But she said, early november do not need to buy any down coat cause wont actually be freezing.

Any things i should look out for when im at Harbin? And also looking forward to advices and recommendations

It will still be sub-zero in early November. It may be a good idea to travel then since it is considered off-peak.

Early or late Nov ? temperate could be sub zero by late Nov.

go to downtown , 中央大街步行街 , paved walkway with stones over 100 years old, many Russian architecture styled buildings around. eat the russian ice cream in sub zero condition, it's shiok. Try the red sausage.

visit the Saint Sophia Cathedral , 聖·索菲亞教堂 , near the walkway

visit sun island, 太阳岛 , just across the song hua river.

nothing , absolutely nothing to buy at the airport or anywhere near the airport unless you want to buy hard liquer or cigarettes, so you gotta prepare your winter clothing before leaving Spore , at least 1 set, the rest can buy after you reach downtown

down jacket at Uniqlo ( a few outlets ) at the 中央大街步行街 , by then will be cheap, last business trip 4 yrs back, bought a down jacket for rmb699 at mid Nov.

buy the thermal wear from Spore uniqlo, Heat Tech , wear a wool overall and probably thermal windproof pants ( its impt , the wind can be crazy outdoors esp if you are by the river near the 中央大街步行街 ) and a down jacket should be fine if it's not snowing at -30 degrees.

you need to be prepared for heavy snow / ice . eg, snow / ice / anti slip boots. Probably can get over there too, but I dunno where since my previous business trips over the years, not snowing nor see any ice yet. probably check with the locals.

If you are looking for SG standard malls, there is a capitaland mall, forgot the name. Local version will be any Wanda Malls.

If you are going in a group, do pop by this restaurant call 连花鱼池， they do have some performance in your room during your meal.

If you are looking for dumplings, there is this chain that is everywhere, 东方饺子王 / or 东方饺子 that is pretty good.


If you feel terribly cold, do drop by this massive massage / sauna place / building called 东方世家. very shiok to be soaking in hot water in that kind of weather before a massage. nearby the massage building, there is another building with a few FnB outlet, some BBQ which is pretty good, and another outlet served pretty decent western dish like steaks and pasta, not sure if they are still around.

Google is your friend. Many county-level cities don't have train stations, much less international airports.

there are tour package from harbin to yanji

but if i am to go another time i will not go by tour package
as some of the places whcih i have pass by have very nice scency, but teh tour bus refuse to stop...

however if u go by tour package, it should be quite cheap with 300 plus for a 4 day 3 night packages.

Hi, is there any shops or restaurants still open around 11pm in Harbin? My flight arrive Harbin around 10.22pm and hopefully could check in to the hotel around 11pm then. Will leave for snow valley the next early morning. Wondering could I still get some extra winter clothing at that late hours?
Actually, I have prepared Long john, down jacket, wool sweater,windbreaker jacket, scarf and gloves. Would be good to get some extra. Thanks
