Hello.

My friend got a old 1.5TB.
During house moving, stuff got knock a bit.

When connect up the Hard Disk
Some funny sound and beeping sound.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Go Flex external Seagate.
Could it be due to the accidental moving around?
Any suggestion on what to do?

Could be the pin that's on the spinning disc that's loose. If nth impt inside can attempt self repair by watching video. Try checking out linustechtips on YouTube on reviving dead hdd.

Try in another PC or Laptop till I can be read. Once can be read better copy out everything ASAP.
If the strange funny sound sounds like scratching, the disk might be scratched and damaged... :s22:

Well, most likely knocked onto some stuff.
Perhaps shall bring to Sim Lim to take a look.

Say maybe mechanical failure due to knocks.
If HD really spoil.

Information can still be transferred right?
*if it can be read. lol.

If some beeping noises, most likely heads get stuck.

If data is important, can send for evaluation at professional data recovery centres. Most reputable centres offer free evaluation.

How much does it cost for data recovery?

For head stuck, most data recovery companies will tell you the heads are damaged with platter scratched and heads misaligned...and a lots of mumbo jumbo and charge you for the cost of a heads replacement, which may be around $2k.

I know only one company diagnose a head stuck as a head stuck and charge you a reasonable rate. It was below $1k for a 500GB disk.

Buying a few HDD and backupis cheaper, I learnt my lesson the hard way
