anyway we can prolong the disk life span before it fails if there's lots of stuff to back up?

I remember after 6 mths of not touching my PS3 HDD failed. Then I found by putting it upside down it works. Then just copied everything over.

There is no prolong or repair, only luck.

This I why constant backup is a must if data is important. Worse come to worse, backup off-site. Plenty of cheap ones like backblaze
