Hard disk failure

My 2TB HDD (about 10 year old) started giving me issues where some files cant be accessed and the drive itself started to not be detectable when turning on my PC in the following days.

I tried cleaning/changing the SATA ports and cables but the issue still persist so im guessing thats not the issue.
My best guess is my HDD is dead or soon to be dead?

Want to know what are my options.

• Do i try to get it repaired? if so how much would it normally cost?
  
• I read on those data recovery things too, how does it work? How are they supposed to return me the data i lost?

Any reliable shops to recommend? I dont want to go to some shops where they access all my stuff and does god knows what with my files.

You should be doing regular backup, data recovery service isn't cheap.

i went to my neighbourhood pc shop and the uncle quote me $20-60 for HD repair/data recovery

I mean im skeptical too as ive read on data recovery and the prices.

He told me $20 for checking and repair/recovery will cost towards $20-60.

His PC Shop has been in my neighbourhoood for over 20 years so somehow im inclined to believe he knows what he is doing as well

Any idea what would hdd repair cost outside?

Anyway if ts wants to clone the HDD I have a Japanese HDD duplicator which is pretty decent...

It is possible that based on your description he is betting on it being just dead PCB and if he has the same model pcb, it may be a relatively easy job compared to retrieving data off bad media or dead actuators

No, if the HDD is not detected, EaseUS will not work.

In that situation, you need the professional data recovery service.

i don't think replacing PCB will actually works. i ever tried it with same brand same model and firmware.

it doesn't detectat all.

it depends on what is wrong with the hdd also.
