Hard Drive failing?

Hi guys,

recently my computer has been giving me problems. after booting up my computer, windows will not respond but my mouse works normally. I did a virus scan with malwarebytes and found no issues on safe mode and disk defrag my computer etc etc but still does not solve my issue which i clean install my os as a last resort. After re-installing my OS, my problem slightly better but still persist (windows not responding) every 30mins ~ 1hour. is my hard drive failing?

other problems -
- try to open files/apps but doesnt do anything or just never responds sometimes.
- Internet stops working when windows stop responding
- shutting down takes forever before the clean install

You using wrong function for HD Tune.
Go to a bad sector scan the slow one and wait overnight for the results and post the result here.

consider changing your hdd to ssd.

before u know it, you'll get some bad sectors and more and more. at least that was my symptoms. Better to backup whatever and prepare to buy a new HD

Thanks guys for your replies and yes, I'll be getting a new SSD by today. any brand recommendations for SSD? Samsung? Zotac? anything thats bang for buck

sorry, i don't quite get what you mean. Do you mean running the error scan? i only have 1 HD

He means you should do a normal bad sector scan by selecting under Error Scan tab. Do not check the Quick scan radio button. The result will show if your drive has bad sectors.

Zotac MLC 480GB @164.90 but not sure still have or not.

Yes those SMART readings indicate a failing disk. Quickly buy a replacement and transfer your data, hopefully before the disk fails.

Reallocation Sector/Event exceeded threshold means your drive started to use up the free usage for the sector allocation space. Better to get a new HDD and started to transfer your important file over....when your pc still able to detect your current drive...

Im very happy since I got Amazon unlimited cloud. Everything just upload. Entire mirrors of my hdd and even old optical discs. Don't have to worry about failing storage anymore.
