I read that haswell is quite hot, but just wanted some assurance. Just build a haswell rig, and bios temp of cpu is 50 odd degrees. Is it ok?

yeah... set up a Intel i5-4570 with MSI Z87-G45 for my brother yesterday. Shock to see that 50-53C in the BIOS. :s22: Keep pushing the stock HSF, thought it was not installed properly. :o

Using the Xigmatek Gaia Heatsink. On idle lowest temp around 33-36

Applied arctic silver thermal paste.

yeah, i agree. the xigmatek gaia is more value for money. Installation process can be a bit tedious and confusing though, but fixable.

Installation ok lah~

Is the Fan mounted to the Heatsink. For sure get confused lol.

The rubber studs that holds the fan and the Heatsink fins took me some time to think how they mount it.

Found out that the rubber studs has a slit hole that slides thru the fin.

haha, for me is setting up the base mount, they have like a number of different ways to setup for different socket types. Instructions seemed quite ambiguous to me.

As long as the idle temps are not too high (usually due to poorly mounted HSF), there's no point in comparing whter they are 30C or 40C cos CPU DTS are not calibrated for idle temp feedback.

Anyway, some CPU have stuck DTS which will not go below a certain level.

Overall, load temps are more impt and meaningful cos the CPU DTS is calibrated according to the distance from throttle temps for thermal protection.

Our Skyboy here expert in delidding those chips :)

I am using H60 however, think around 32-45 degree on idle.
Used MSI intel tuning utility to check, can someone advise if it is as accurate as the Real Temp?

Delidding is good, and load temp will improved tremendously. Idle temp not much difference, maybe by just few degrees at idle...because no load.

Moreover, in my case, I found out my Vcore reduced further from 1.25 to 1.21Vcore for Haswell, Ivy another chip also 1.18Vcore, reduce to 1.16Vcore.
Not all chips are the same, and include your set-up.
