thinking of bringing my elderly mum sometime next year for a road trip.

She told me things have changed pretty much in Hat yai while i'm more keen in chiang mai/rai.

I did some goggle on hat yai, seem kinda boring and not much attractions.

We have been to hua yin, khao kho etc.
intend to do the same, rent a car and drive around.

some sharing and suggestion please (y)

imo just bring her to hatyai lah … probably she just wants to rekindle her past in hatyai? also don't try to drive around hatyai, traffic lights can be very frustrating

chiang mai/rai u can go anytime later

hatyai for us is quite boring but the elderly is pretty keen.

been there once with inlaws and in an open mind i find there quite ok, abit boring but still manageable.

a few interesting places to eat.

Don't know how much time you have or how much of driving you are ready to do. I can imagine a 5 day road trip to include Songkhla, Hadyai and a waterfall in between.

How many days you have in mind for drive trip???

probably 5 days of drive?

i'm thinking of something like this:
Hatyai 4D3N,
then fly to chiang mai, 4D3N, drive around.
Then fly to BKK for another 4D3N

kinda ambitious , i know..

From Chiang Mai, I suggest Pai. From Bangkok, visit Kanchanaburi.
