Think its like that just nice.

Not sure what's so surprising. Such sight should not be uncommon. Work outside stand whole day, cannot anyhow disappear, thus break time finish food still got time will often on the spot find a nice shady place to lie down on the ground rest.

Oh and I didn't know. I have never entered a house with a staircase + storage area underneath it.

Think it seldom cross people mind cause most live in public housing just one floor. But those with more than one floor, usually below the staircase is an awkward space. Some might just leave it as it is; some might board it up use as storage, which then naturally comes with a door or access or something. But not sure those with basement will the same staircase extend beyond to basement or not (seems like it does this case). Anyway, either way think it does seems odd and suspicious for the house to seal it up like that totally. Leave rooms for people wild imagination what happen to the staircaes space below.

I doubt I will ever be rich enough to buy landed, so...... i guess not my problem
