Ns in HomeTeam or SAF? For SAF, I believe you need permission, like always...

For HomeTeam(SPF), I don't think it's allowed, though I've met people who secretly had it done during their training period and hiding it. Quite easy if you manage to get excused from the swimming training.

The location and size of the tattoo play a big part in their consideration.

E.g. full arm sleeve, most probably gets transferred out if you're in the HomeTeam(SPF).

Why not wait for after your NS to get it? I got mine done full back after I ORD-ed.

From my experience, in SPF, if you have a tattoo before enlistment, and you can explain that you have to ties to gangs during the tattoo check. For example, I have 3 stars tattooed on the bottom of my right foot to symbolize my family. They let me through no problem.

From what I hear, as long as your tattoo is not visible when you put on your No. 3, it should be OK.
