hi, my sister wanted to applied bto single this july.
I have a few questions that you guys maybe able to help me.

She is now staying with my parent in a joint name of 3 person.
And my brother took the hdb grant of staying near parent few years ago
and his key will be able to get it this year.

Can my sister still able to sell the house since its joint name with my parent . and i heard that my parent can't sell house for 5 years because my brother took the grant. Is the 5years counted from the time he applied or when he take the key?

Is there any other option for my sister, since she really want to applied this july 2013 single bto because the house they currently staying is HDB executive which bought 15years ago and now only 3 of them staying. Too big house for them.

simply add ur parents name as occupiers for ur brother house will solve the problem if die die must sell existing parents' house.

Not a big issue.

5 years cannot be counted from the time he applied. Doesn't make sense to me cos he has not even physically stay near parents at all.

It has to be the date he starts staying which could be the date he starts servicing his loan too.

oh. so can eventually sell the big existing parent's house and add their name on my bro's hse as occupier can solve... thanks for that ... then my sister can get herself a small house already. thanks keithster you solve our problem.

how abt they sell the existing flat and my sister applied the bto single and put my parents as occupier can? sorry not too sure about the system of hdb. tks

i forget to mention the 3 joint name include my sister too. so is it possible for her to applied bto single? since its a downgrade.

depending on where she buys the new BTO. If now your parents stay in Bedok and she buys punggol. Then cannot cos it is a different estate. It has to be the same estate. Otherwise, ask ur sis to buy the same estate lor.

i think ur sis can apply bto as single but the flat is only 2-room which is kinda small. do u think ur parents are comfortable with this?

Seriously

a. What is the purpose of asking this question
b. Is the parents having a HOUSE ( landed / condo ) or flat
c. If sister buying BTO as a single, WHY IS THERE A NEED TO PUT IN PARENT'S NAME??
d. BTO 2 room = 1 bedroom. Parents will be sleeping in the living room?
e. 5 year MOP refers to brother's BTO and not parents property

THIS THREAD IS SUPER DUPER CONFUSING AND THREADSTARTER IS ADVISED TO STATE IN EXPLICIT TERMS THE EXACT SCENARIO, so people will not need to make wild guesses.

EXAMPLE:
Parents are now staying in a landed property
Brother applied for BTO using mother / father / both names
Parents will sell property upon obtaining BTO
and so on...

thanks for the help, keithster... i will call again the hdb to make further clearify from them, since my qs stated here make ppl confused....
