I just bought a resale HDB with my wife. My sister (PR) wish to stay with me and she has a property overseas. Should I list her as an occupier or tenant ?

Just get your sister to start sending her phone bills or credit card bills to your house. Then she can proceed to register singpass and change IC address with the address on the bill. There is no need to list everyone.

Case in point, once a kid reaches 21, he can still stay with his parents, he can also move back even after he moves out somewhere else. There is no need to list him as an occupier or a tenant. You list a person as a occupier for HDB only because the nucleus family rule (eg. Husband / wife or Parent / unmarried son/daughter) for HDB mandates for it.

If your resale hdb
is still within mop
She has to sell her property oversea
to be your occupier
if you put her as tenant
you have to collect rental from her
you have to be taxed

but if your resale is over mop
just go ahead put inside occupier

The thing is, the sister is not even required to be listed as occupier, so no need for discussion having to sell her property etc.

It is obvious you do not know what occupier is meant for...
One of my siblings
who is divorced
used my address for her kid Primary 1 admission
a few years later
i recieved a letter from HDB
Her name was added into my occupier list
fortunately my HDB was already over MOP
so no issue with her private condo

For PR
She needs to be a PR for at least 3 years
if less than 3 years
no need to add her into your occupier list
but by adding her into the occupier list
she cannot own any oversea property
cannot apply BTO
cannot buy private property in sg
until your MOP ends

There must be some other things to it, only you know best what happened, or it could be something else that you thought it was related to occupier. Anyway, if the flat is yours, you can login to the HDB portal to confirm if she is listed as occupier.

Take note you need to apply to add/remove occupier, not an automatic process.

As said, there is no need to add occupier, and so obviously, you do not know the purpose of occupier either...

Stop providing wrong info, though actually info may be correct, it is applied wrongly in TS situation.

Do not need to have any
conspiracy theory in your mind

Yes, she is listed as occupier

if you are lazy to apply
to add any immediate family member
as an occupier in your hdb
You do not need to do it

HDB will add for you
but maybe 1 or 2 or 3 years later

Correct, do not need the sister to be on your Title Deed, put her in for what?
She changes address will it affect her own residency status affecting her whatever "subsidies", work pass requirements, etc ??

Some HDB officers also have no idea. Their answers largely depend on how you ask, or how you lead them to answering.

You should call them up to verify, not me.

Actually, drkcynic already provided the right answer, which is also my answer. No need to add salt add vinegar here further to confuse others.
