[HDD] Data recovery

My 3-year old WD 500GB Passport just showed I/O failure when I tried to read it. I found out online that this typically means faulty hardware. Just wanted to find out whether there are any reliable data recovery services with reasonable prices in Singapore that I could turn too.

There are a lot of sentimental pictures on my HDD and I'm keen to retrieve as much of it as possible. Thanks in advance for any help.

Dude they quoted $800 and possibly up to $2k if it's a "head spoilt" problem. Are these prices even realistic?

I recovery my data with heads damaged less than $1.5k at Accplus, which I think is the lowest in the market.

Maybe you can try Data Recovery - Kroll Ontrack. They are the agent for WD disk.
