Any place that offers this service?

I have an old 2004 Hitachi Deskstar 160GB that was used in my wife's PC. It was working fine until I decided to do a fresh install of Windows yesterday. Now I can't access the disk at all, have tried plugging it on my main PC but still cannot access. The disk is spinning etc. just cannot access

It shows up in BIOS, but creates all kinds of loading errors in Windows and does not show up in Windows Explorer, or in Disk Manager.

Has a lot of family pictures that were unfortunately not backed up to my NAS prior (my mistake). Where can I bring this to recover the data?

Try converting it to a external drive and see if you can access them

Try converting it to a external drive and see if you can access them

hmmmm don't have a external enclosure to try. Will see what I can borrow or something.

Strange thing is that when I plug the particular drive into SATA on my main PC, there's a whole lot of loading delays and when Windows finally boots up, only my C: (NVME SSD) shows up, all other SATA drives also disappears

Update:

Some timeline of events:

Wife backed up data to it just before I changed the OS drive (SSD) with a higher capacity one last night. During the process I removed the drive to wipe dust inside the casing.

I noticed the plastic tab on the SATA pins on the HGST had broken off (it was stuck inside the SATA cable), but the pins were still intact. Thereafter the problem started. Not sure if it's contact issue or if the drive chose that moment to spoil lol

Anyhow, had tried connecting it via SATA to my main PC. After a few attempts, it corrupted registry entries on my main PC and I had to do a restore...

Thanks to all who have helped in one way or another, some through PM.

I managed to find a very old 3.5" enclosure and it could access the files! Must be a problem with the pins connecting with the SATA cable but which connects well with the enclosure contacts. Have copied out everything out and the important stuff like family pics etc. into my NAS also.
