It is possible that your hard drive is failing and possibly causing the non-responsive moments. Run the Hdtest using hdtune to check for errors.

I'm not sure if my laptop or desktop can read the files of the HDD as it does not show the capacity of the HDD. It just shows that it exist but no capacity.

It is probably in RAW status. The harddrive does not have a windows partition on it for windows to be able to read hence the unavailable size.

Do not check Quick scan in HDTune when scanning for bad sectors.

The reason why i took it out because my motherboard cannot boot using my this hdd. When i changed to another HDD, it works. So with the "Older" HDD, i wanted to take my stuff out to put into another HDD fearing that my files inside will be gone forever. When i put both HDD into my computer to boot, it does not boot up.

It is not that it won boot up, it just takes a super long time to boot up. It definitely looks like your hard drive is failing.

You can use the trial period of the HDTune. Don need to purchase.

Yup, it is trying to scan the hdd. i encountered this a few times. it looks like your hdd is in more serious condition than we thought. how about just plug the hdd in and let the program run for about an hour... if still cant load.. then you know what it means...

I doubt so, as plug in cause your machine to hang. Only the pro with specialised tools is able to do the job.
