Have been experiencing some problems when accessing files on the internal HDD.

Problems occurred recently:

1) I/O device error when transferring data to external HDD (Error 0x8007045D). No problem when transferring data between external HDDs.

2) Slow read rate when opening/using files on internal HDD. Games/videos stutter from frame to frame. No stutter for games/videos on SSD.

Done a quick test using WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Test not completed due to error (failed read test element).

Any solutions? Time to buy a new one?

Model: WD Blue 500GB (bought in Jan 2013; no more warranty)

Quickly get a new HDD and transfer over your data. It's a physical failure that cannot be fixed by any software.

Seems like I have to buy a new HDD. Any recommendations across the 3 brands, WD/Toshiba/Seagate (eg. warranty period)? Got any online deals right now?

Read from other threads, the most recommended one is the WD Blue 1TB at $69.

Have you double checked your warranty card? Maybe still can RMA... Dunno when it started, but currently WD drives come with 2+1yr warranty, 2 years by WD, 1 yr by distributor.

Seagate and Toshiba 2yrs.

Eh... Don't think have warranty card leh. Think it came in a static bag only when i last bought in SLS.

I checked thru the WD online warranty check and it stated warranty expired. But will double confirm again. Thanks.

Could have been taped to the static bag? My Seagate (under Achieva) was like that. Came in a static bag with the warranty card attached outside with scotch tape.
