HDD not detected

Hi would like to check for possible remedies to fix my HDD

Suddenly it is not detected today and not sure if it is dead. I have tried re-connecting the wires as well as trying different SATA slots but its not working as well.

assuming that its likely dead considering its almost 5 years and no other ways ill probably get a new one..

Would need a recommendation of a new HDD that is 2TB


Edit: adding on that its not even showing up on device managers and BIOS

Get Toshiba 2TB 7200rpm HDD at $74 from Best Bargain or Tradepac.

Your old HDD is a gone case, if data is not worth the recovery fee.

Understand that WD black cost 100 more but also better specs and longer warranty. 5 years compared to toshiba 2 yrs

I would go for the WD Black HDD since it has longer warranty.

There is no guarantee that WD Black will outlast others. WD Black is marketed as a performance drive. Beside expensive, owners got to bear with a more hot & noisy drive.

If you search the WD HDD RMA thread, you will see fair share of WD Black kaput too.

While I prefer WD and stay away from Seagate, any brand should be ok.
I buy based on my personal use in my 20+ years experience and current use of my NAS using desktop drives.
More important is to shutdown your system proper and minimize sudden power failure. Periodical defragmentation and scan test may also maximize the usage of the drives.

I too have a dead HDD just few days ago. So I also need to buy a new HDD. Many people tell me to buy SSD 500GB. But I'm looking at Seagate Firecuda 3.5" 2TB. I think SSD 500GB may not be enough for me to use and SSD 1/2TB is not cheap.

What do you guys think of this?

I want to use it for games and work. I have a SSD 120GB which I have deleted old partitions and clean installed Windows 10.
