HDD problem

Nowadays, everytime i start my computer, my HDD will keep ticking and beeping regularly. I read around and apparently it might have something to do with the Advanced Power Management ( APM ) of the HDD.

However, i cannot find a way to perm disable the APM. My HDD is the Hitachi HDS721050DLE630.

Anyone know of any ways to solve the problems or you think that its another problem thats causing the beep and tick sounds. My HDD is slightly older than 1 year old and i barely even use it. I only used like 20gb out of the 500gb since i dont download anything and all the OS and my games are installed on my SSD.

Any and all help is and would be appreciated. Also please do tell me if this problem is pretty much just an annoyance or that it is a critical issue.

its normal. If you let computer idle, then u open file the tick sound will be there. try using hdtune to disable.

I already have an SSD for my games and OS etc. The HDD is for me to store any rubbish that i plan on downloading

Also I havent try the HDPARM since that 1 require me to start it everytime i start my comp. I was thinking that there might be another way to perm fix it.

Yeah, totally agree. The Plextor SSD is a very fast hard drive and high in performance!
You all can try it, trusted brand...

If your hdd upgrade to ssd, it will lowest down your noisy sound unless you don't want to upgrade lo.. but still can use it. LOL

Run HDTune to do a complete scan (uncheck quick scan).
