Hi guys, im experiencing a problem here and I hope someone can help :(:(

My computer has been working well until recently transferring speed of files became very slow, for example 250mb will take up to a few hours. And also loading of video clips inside the HDD is also a problem as the videos would not load properly, stopping every now and then as if it was buffering.

I went to do a bit of research myself and used the HD Tune to check my HDD and it came up with these results.

Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting (The health check)

Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting (HDD Benchmark but wasnt able to complete due to some errors)

It says I have reallocated sector count, which from what I found online, it cannot be resolved.
Therefore is my only solution now is to change a new HDD??

My Hitachi HDD is still under 3yrs warranty which is bought in 2012, will I be able to exchange for a new HDD?? or warranty does not cover such things. The HDD was bought from PC Themes.

Will PC Themes be able to exchange 1 for me? Or will I be able to RMA the HDD?

Thanks for taking your time to read and I hope someone will be able to help me :)

Suggest you use the ViVard tool in Ultimate Boot CD to scan and re-map the bad sectors first before transferring.
Otherwise transfer will be super slow and hang 1/2 way. Not good for the hdd too, since the OS may try to re-read the bad sector too many times until the hdd just die.

Your disk is failing.

Copy out your the important files like photos and personal videos first. Forget about large size and easily downloaded files like movies or music files. If your disk is still working after this, do a image of your disk using software like Acronis.

Imaging is less taxing on the heads and can extend your disk life a bit longer.

Do not run anymore disk utilities as it will further reduce the lifespan of your already injured disk.

TS, if the faulty HDD is the OS drive, I suggest you get another hard disk/ssd and install the OS. Then connect the faulty drive as secondary drive to retrieve the data. Bad sectors are likely in the OS files area and thus causing the whole system to lag badly.

If you work in an electronic industry, easy to get one.
If not, go to SLS and look around in the dustbin areas.
