HDD to SSD Help

Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my Alienware Aurora R4 (bought in 2014) from HDD to SSD.

Been looking around and I am trying to figure out if I can install the Samsung 860 Evo M.2.

Am I right to say I need an adaptor like "M.2 to PCIe adapter" and fit it in the slot above? Not a PC expert here so I need all the help I can get, please.

Can anyone advise the correct adaptor to get?

Yes u need to get a m.2 to pcie adapter.

I think u can get it from cybermind for adapter. Iirc it's sliverstone brand.

You will need an m.2 SATA to PCIe adapter.

I won't bother though. It would be easier to use a normal SATA drive.

You can place it there. If there are no mounting holes for it, just use double sided tape to make it stick onto the 3.5" hdd tray.

You can just tape it down like shadow84 said. In my HP SFF, I leave the SSD hanging free.

The usual 3.5" adapter might not work for the R4 according to some forum posts. Not clear to me why it won't work so you can give it a try if you wish.
