The SPL slightly lower which is why need to go up to a higher volume, I find myself turning my volume up to around 70-80% too but not an issue for me. The details are there once you are at that volume without an amp.

Most commercial Bluetooth 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0 headsets will work with the PlayStation 3.


Did you try the default Shure grey ear tips?

But is the build quality of the J33 any good?

I do prefer the aluminium housing on the FX3x and the thicker cables =) The flat cables could be a plus point for you though.

How about the Fischer Audio Paradigm V3, Beyerdynamic DTX71 or the ATH-CKS55x? How do these go up against the JBL J33?

The Paradigm v3 is good for relaxed listening for most genres. A comparable model to the Sunrise Xcape Impression Edition - warm, smooth and sweet sounding. The fabric cable makes it more durable and also slightly helps with preventing tangles.

The CKS55x is basically a bass monster but lack tightness in the bass, regular cables so not much to mention on durability. Fits and sits nicely in the ear. For me, it could have more treble because I'm not really a bass person.

The beyerdynamic DTX71iE is good in clarity and precise in its bass, could give more depth to the overall sound. =)

Okay, basically my TF10 recently died (cable issues).
Managed to temporarily get by using SE215LTD, which is a major downgrade I would say.
This crappy IEM lacked details/clarity/soundstage/etc.

Anyway, looking to get a proper IEM that is close to my current desktop audio rig.
Currently own HD650 and K702.
Previously owned SF5Pro and TF10Pro(RIP).

Criteria (in order of preference):
1) Clarity/details/accuracy
2) Soundstage (closest resemblance to open headphones)
3) Tight, punchy bass (I'm a basshead but hate overly bassy or distorted bass)
4) Works very well amp-less.
5) Comfort of usage in terms of fitting and over-ear cabling.

Currently considering the 3.Ai/4.Ai and the new UM 3DD universals (if the demo ever arrives).
However, I'm open to all suggestions.

Also, just to state that I'm not a fan of Westone's UM series sound signatures.

Sorry, saw 5.1/7.1 and thought of headphones.

Earphones wise you can look at Sennheiser MM70i and also Westone TS1.

They do come with passive isolation but not active noise cancelling if that is what you are looking for. The SE425 suits your genre of music since the woofer really pumps the bass and the mids is amazing. =)
