Head/earphones Recommendations Thread

- What type of usage (On-the-go Music)
- File format used in my source (mp3/flac)
- Genre of music I listen to (jpop(from anime), occasional english/chinese pop)
- Looking at what Headphone/earphone type (CIEM, triple driver)
- Budget (Looking to see what is the more entry price of ciem but around $800)

Considering to try out CIEM or should i go for the universal type?
(Personally don't use DAC, and most likely, not capable of telling the difference of more than 4 drivers, i think.)
Prefer balance sound but slightly lean towards clarity.

Hi there, if you're looking for CIEM with triple drivers there are a few, UM Aero, UE7, JH7 Pro, just to name a few. With custom fit you get a more consistent sound from the earphones as the position of the drivers are more securely fitted to your ears as compared to universal fit. We have the demo unit for the UM Aero at both our outlets, do feel free to drop by and give them a try.

You can give the Shure SE215SE and the JVC FXZ100. Both gives a good bass response and are well-received by many for the sound that they produce.

Yurbuds is also another popular brand as they are non-in-ear so there won't be microphonics. However the Pro version comes with the iOS remote control which is not 100% compatible with your Galaxy S4. You might want to consider the Inspire Talk instead which comes with a single button remote and mic which is optimised for most smartphones.

Can give the Grado SR225i a try, but the bass wouldn't be so prominent. There's the Audio Technica A700X and the AD700X also.

At the price of the SE215 you can try the Westone 1 and the TDK BA200 also if you prefer more clarity.

Can consider the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS99 for earphones and the ATH-WS77 for headphones. Both are from Audio-Technica's solid bass range.

The DTX501P is very portable since it's foldable and comes with a case. Does you friend prefer something that is more portable like it? If so can consider the Sennheiser PX-200II.

I prefer a mainly flat FR with maybe a slight emphasis on highs for details/nuances and a bit of low mids for the distorted guitars. Not a bass head but appreciate low bass extension with impactful/tight bass.

For headphones you can consider the range from AKG. There are the K240 Studio and the K550. Do note that the K240 is an opened can which is more suitable for indoor use.
Earphones wise you can consider the Westone 2 and the TDK BA200.
