Head/earphones Recommendations Thread

Hi,

I'm an undergraduate and I'm looking for a headphone for studying and music purpose as it can get pretty noisy even in the library.

I'm using a 13 inch macbook pro for my music, and my priorities for choosing a headphone are as follows:
1. Noise cancelling/isolation
2. Affordable (on a really low budget at around $100+, hence need not be a high end one)
3. Comfortable (I'm probably be wearing it over a course of more than 5 hours, hence it has to be comfortable on the ears)

Would any kind soul be willing to give a recommendation based on the above-mentioned details?

Would really appreciate any inputs!

You can consider the Shure SRH240A, JBL J55 and the Sennheiser HD419. The Shure and Sennheiser might be more comfortable as they are around ear type. If possible do drop by our outlets and give them a try.

Maybe you can consider the Sennheiser MX365. It is one of the popular choice for non-in-ear type of earphones.

first time posting here

- rig iPod Nano 7th gen
- music and movies
- mostly mp3
- pop music, radio music etc, don't like heavy metal. prefer slow and instrumental songs but dont mind punchy songs with bass
- prefer closed headphones, light and portable
- looking for wireless/bluetooth
- around 250

actually looking at the klipsch image one bluetooth, quite like the build and weight. don't like huge headphones. hoping to wait for black friday deal... any suggestion is welcome

anyone finds the bass for klipsch image one bluetooth overbearing even after breaking in? also like the feature that i can use it wired after the battery runs out.

Hi, I was using a sonicgear earpump pure. It sounds is pretty good to me, if a bit 'cold'. The reliability is bad though.
Basically I want to know if there's anything near equivalent, in terms of sound quality and price.

We can't give much review on Klipsch as we do not carry them. The only bluetooth headset which we have that meets your criteria is the Jabra Halo 2. Sorry not able to provide much suggestions here as we have limited bluetooth products.

If you prefer something that sounds warmer you can consider the TDK BA100 and the Audio Technica CKS77X. The bass of the CKS77X might be very heavy as compare to the BA100, as it is using dynamic driver.

My UE700 wire had some problems (left side). The connector part was exposed but i fixed it with sugru, but the wiring near the left side drivers seems to be broken internally. no exposed parts but the sounds goes on and off as you adjust that part. and suggestions on what I can do?

generally i like ue700 cos of the clarity. but i think the soundstage can be wider and the bass a little stronger. any suggestions?

I second this haha. Got a earpump pure at PC show in march. Less than half a year later, right side stopped working

You can give the TDK BA200 a try. Personally will find it more balanced than the UE700.

We are not sure regarding that.
If the cable broke near the driver area it would be near impossible to repair. Unless you want to consider reshelling the IEM.

Westone 1 and UE600 are discontinued. The JVC FX-T90 gives off higher highs and boomy bass as compare to the BA200. Overall the BA200 is more balance, if you're looking for more excitement in sound, the FX-T90 might be a better choice.

You might want to consider the JVC FXZ100 and the TDK IE800. However these 2 are using dynamic drivers which will cause significant sound difference from the UE700.

Oops i meant UM1 from westone, am actually looking for more clarity and slightly more bass than the S4 but not too much. Can the BA 200 be worn downwards instead of overear?

Forgot to add in too: Durability! looking for something durable too as i would preferably like to use it for 2-3years.
