I was eyeing on the SE215, but too bad the mic cable is a separate purchase. Ended up going for ATH IM01 (which Jaben was giving away the mic cable for free as promotion)

Do you know where I can try them? I'm currently using Audio Technica's CLR100 (which is surprisingly quite good for the price I paid).

Highly recommended for HZsound HZ3, very nice sound signature, bass are acceptable still not strong yet, should let it burning sometime.
The sound very sparkler, nice treble and sub bass, even mids still can hearing clearly of female vocals.
Can buy here

cost is not an issue la...within my budget.

I'm also considering the UERR which is around the same pricing...

CIEM vs Universal type.. For me I would go for universal type. The value won't drop as much, if you found another replacement.

Sounds and DAP is updated every single year

Your rig : desire eye, desktop
- What type of usage : Music mostly / movies
- File format used in your source : mostly mp3
- Genre of music you listen to : pop/rock/new age/trance
- Headphone / earphone type : no idea what it means but i guess isolation from outside world kind? No need mic or volume control

But the sounds is low than what i expected.
The only way pump from Amp :s22:

I am using FiiO E10K on desktop.

Some of my personal opinion on Mee Audio Pinnacle P1:
  • Sound signature improved greatly after burned in
  • Great clarity (May not be suitable for treble sensitive)
  • Missing sub bass and "theatre effect" compare to TF10
  • Cable is relatively thick and tangle easily (I prefer smaller profile cable)

However, this definitely is a good value product in this price range. :s13:

Rig:Sony a25 but considering selling off to get fiiox3 ii or Sony zx100 or ibassox50
Genre: jpop~hip hop~rap~pop
Budget :less than 500

Considering esw990h unless the phone recommended is even better

Beats was very popular for a period. My sis HTC phone had beats and it sounded amazing. Is it worth it?

Sony MDR~1A seems to bring out all the vocals but not to exact clarity unlike senn and audio technica. Is there something wrong with my ears? I must admit it is colourful.

I owned senn PX200ii closed cans was value for money but spoil quite easily. So I got pissed and found ATH ESW9 and it has been giving me good music ever since. Due to my rough usage the band needs to be repaired.
I had demo Ath~esw990h.

For the DAP I own Sony a25 but sounds just not quite right with esw9. Sounds amazing and clear vocals with esw990h.But my esw9 was used with Xiaomi mi4I all along and it was pretty fantastic and I was looking at something more. Clarity, better soundstage ,more depth more width ,more treble at low volume. I play soft rock n hip pop n rap.

Well I personally liked fiiox1 but find the vocals not clear enough kind of muffed. Fiiox3 ii is amazingly clear but both the esw9.... headphones sound very soft not sure why. So I settled for Sony A25. Was kind of hasty decision.

Now wondering should I go test Sony zx100. But to me fiiox3ii and Sony zx100 sounds the same natural n transparent without any dsee effect etc. But Sony price is triple.

Sorry for being off track. But I need advice.

For phones as I love AT wood signature I'm saving to get E's990h. Do u think I should get it? For collection n it costs SGD 488. There is still esw9ltd at SGD 488 too.

Sony 1A worth it?
I know ath is very durable. ESW9 been with me for 3 years and going strong.

How? I don't know problem is DAP or SD card or headphone:((

Any thoughts on the Oriolus IEM?

Hand abit itchy, feel like another IEM to compliment my JH Angies.

I have been using the Oriolus 2nd Generation model for a mth+ now, disregarding whether or not you trust my ears/listening opinions but pushing that new toy syndrome fever aside, I don't think it is wrong for me to say that these are some of the best IEMs I have heard so far, and a very highly technically-proficient and musical hybrid model as well (it is based on 1 DD/3 BA with 4-way crossover constructionl so def u would get very different kind of bass undertones/visceral quality compared to kind of bass that you would usually get from yr JH Angies).

James444 from Head-fi who is a regular contributor there IMO who had always shared only truthful reviews/impressions of audio gears without any form of shilling/shady agendas compared to some people on HF that I am aware of, have also commented positively on these pair of IEMs quite recently. :)

I have not been following the discussions on Head-fi that actively, having only checked back on that post just recently but from I am aware of, another head-fier Marshal Banana who posted on page 7 of that HF thread had also commented previously that when pitted against other models he had owned including the JH13pro, TG334, 846, 335SR, 435, ASG2.5, K10U the Oriolus still stands out and remains as his favourite IEM currently. Personally for me, I think the Oriolus has this excellent rendition and poisonous midrange presentation while at the same time being able to achieve very gd tonal accuracy and detail retrieval quality.
Despite being a hybrid IEM model their strong sense of coherency in terms of bass/midrange response are truly excellent, IMO this area is something that cannot be matched by others in my own plethora of IEM collection under my disposal, although I have also recently gotten a pair of Dita Truth Brass D.Bespoke Edition ard the same time too and enjoyed those very much as well.

The FitEar ToGo 334's MSRP in Japan are actually not that far off from what the Oriolus 2nd Generation costs in Japan, so it is probably only natural that you will see quite abit of discussions on Head-fi comparing these 2 pair of IEMs together. Although I have already mentioned my share of words on the comparison of these 2 IEMs, I will still mention agn that given a 2nd chance of re-purchasing decision btw the TG334 and the Oriolus 2nd Gen, I will prolly pick the latter again for good due to SQ preference.

To be fair to Mr Suyama-san and his staff team halting from their Chiba factory, the TG334 housing shell and nozzle tubing are undeniably of better build quality overall (IIRC most of their housing parts are in-house factory produced and MIJ), I don't think this can be denied by anyone even when I am not a current owner of the TG334's. But the Oriolus' build quality are not considered that shabby too to be frank (also when comparing them to UM's very own japanese line of UIEMs such as the Maverick/Mason/Mavis series, also Oriolus' shell quality reminds me alot of the German In-Ear Stagediver series) and I feel that in terms of sound tuning/FR balance, the Oriolus has got it alot more right for me compared to how the stock version of TG334 paired with 001 cable performed to my ears. (personally didn't quite like how their default stock rendition of its bass were presented, and how its uppermids/treble sounded w/o much bite and sparkle)

Kinda remembered that u had posted a msg sometime ago on that Japan thread a few threads down started by forumer blazin, mentioning that you may drop by Japan for a visit during May. Well just thought that I'll give ya some heads-up, did checked e-Earphone just recently and noticed they have been OOS for awhile now, backordered by manufacturer with unknown delivery status (納期未定) and this was the same case with Fujiya-Avic recently from what I'm aware, as Fujiya's stocks were alrdy OOS since early-March as shared by a local bro.

The Oriolus is prolly the only other hybrid IEM model that I know that were sold under japanese market, that have sold very very well and garnered lotsa positive praises from japanese owners alike, apart from the Maverick IEM model by Unique Melody. Under the 満足度 section category (read as manzoku) or commonly translated as "satisfaction ratings" under its Kakaku.com review page, the Oriolus has received full 5-star ratings by all its owners and generally I would say this is typically quite a rare sign for an IEM release that is not released by a domestic well-known manufacturer.

You should be able to get abt 8% off its 124,200 JPY listed pricing if e-Earphone or Fujiya ever replenishes their own stock by May when you make yr trip, however if not you can always preorder from E1PersonalAudio, knowing the guys over at E1 I am sure they will take good care of you too.

Thanks for the detailed write up bro.

I did manage to pop by E1 yesterday and they had one last set. But there was another gentleman there that was about to purchase it. He was kind enough to open the box and we had a listen to the Oriolus and concluded that it was very good indeed.

Good news is that they probably have another set that is coming in in the evening, will drop by again.

From my little time with the Oriolus, it was lush and had great intimacy - a trait that would probably pair well with the jazz that i listen to. Bass response was great as well - it dug deep.

I listen to quite a bit of metal as well, will be interesting to see how the Oriolus performs in that aspect.

No worries at all, you're welcomed Sergeant Wong. :) Considering that you have quite abit of TOTL head-fi gears with you as well as high end summit-fi priced speakers at home, I was surprised that even the Oriolus manages to impress you. Good to know that E1 will be replenishing ready stocks in soon to fulfill those unstoppable demand!
:D:D

Metal genres are unfortunately not something I am well-acquainted with, but I do listen to quite abit of mixed genres out there with my pair of Oriolus. Due to its lushness and excellent intimacy/mids traits as you have mentioned, I usually like them when listening to all kinds of solo female vocals especially those by Olivia Ong/JUJU, but I also like them alot for male vocals with those small jazz ensembles. However this pair of IEM gets alot of attention from me when listening to all sorts of EDM/electronica genre and drums-focused stuff in various japanese OSTs, I think it is one of their strong fortes. These are great at being able to reach real low and deep with strong sense of slam impact while not sacrificing the energetic bite/sizzling edge for its uppermids/lower treble response at the same time.

Apart from the default PWAudio No.5 stock cable that comes with my japanese ver of Oriolus 2nd Gen, I am currently using 2 aftermarket cables with them as well. My fav goes to Effect Audio's Mars flagship cable which is a gold-plated silver core 5N cable. It adds more micro-detail/air to its high frequency regions with added extension at both ends of the FR spectrum, while maintaining a nice silky warmth glow in terms of the midrange presentation and adding more 3D-like spatial cues to its overall imaging/sounding properties. Definitely not the sweetest-sounding cable pairing with it from my experience, I think the default copper litz cable by PWAudio already sounds very sweet/poisonous with it but I think with the high transparency traits of the Oriolus, this pair of IEM seems to improve alot via aftermarket cable upgrades so if you have the cash, you might wanna try them for yourself in the future if you eventually get to purchase them.

Sometime ago I had came across a particular chinese discussion thread on Mobile01 Taiwan where a fellow Oriolus owner seems to have some positive experience with the Effect Audio Mars cable as well as Labkable Ultimate series Pandora cable. Labkable is a well-known aftermarket cable maker based in Hong Kong similarly like PWAudio (Peter Wong), so they seem to be extremely popular with the HK/Taiwanese audio audience from what I am aware.

Before I purchased the Oriolus, I also discovered myself back during Feb that e-Earphone staff team had blogged an article before mentioning that the Effect Audio Mars cable shares very strong synergy qualities when paired with the Oriolus, apart from the UM Maverick. Just sharing something thought it may be of some reference help to you if you are ever interested in acquiring some aftermarket cables for that pair of Oriolus.

From what I am aware you can try out Effect Audio's full range series of cables under their authorised retail partner Music Santuary. They are however making arrangements recently to re-locate to a new store location so their previous location at Ming Arcade are currently closed perm right now, so perhaps you can look for them again from May 1st 2016 onwards if interested.

Cheers mate - will report back when i get my hands on them.

Was wondering, will the 2 pin linum bax cable work on the Oriolus?

(P.S - i've sold away most of my headfi stuff, HD800 included. I seem to be pretty happy with my W500 / Angie combo with the Mojo and see no need for upgrading to full sized cans anymore. Also, my speakers are lao kok kok Tannoys...hahaha. Although i am rather interested in the Spatial Audio M2s...http://www.spatialaudio.us/hologram/)

Hey bro, to answer your question no idea abt those Estron Linux BAX cables since I have never tried them personally with the Oriolus before, but a quick check on their official Head-fi discussion did mentioned that Estron gave someone an official reply saying it will fit most recessed pin sockets out there themselves.

Considering from what I have read under reviews by Cymbacavum and having seen their cable offerings recently at the recent CanJam Singapore event 2 mths ago, (JomoAudio seems to be their authorised retailer, prolly can beep them a msg on FB) since they are offering these in 2-pin termination options too and their overmolds are quite slim I don't see why they would not fit the Oriolus, since Oriolus housing uses the same standard recessed sockets as found on Westone W4R/Noble Audio/Unique Melody line-ups and many others including even JH Audio very own 13PRO/16PRO 2-pin custom versions.

That should assure you abit but if you are still worried abt this issue, you can probably just try bring down your Linum cable along to E1PersonalAudio to try it out for yourself. Hope the above info helps.
