looking for a new earphone. noise isolating/cancelling very impt. wireless is a bonus. looking at qc20 versus bose wireless earphone.

oh another thing is that my earphones cables always spoil (fraying / cracking). will braided cables last longer? or do i have to treat them with extreme care? like putting in the carrying case everytime i bring out?

I assumed given he's comparing Bose QC20's and QC35s (?) he's looking to spend circa $500.

If you travel a lot, you should be able to get it cheaper in any country other than here where Bose stuff attracts a huge premium. e.g. AUD1=SGD1 but it's only AU$399 RRP, and when you leave the country you'd get 10% GST back too. (oh, and this is before you consider you can probably get them on sale depending on time of year for about AU$350)

Me, I just used my frequent flyer points to get them when they were 'on sale'.

I tried the qc20... Suggest you try it before you buy, otherwise you may be disappointed.

im actually comparing qc20 and the soundsport wireless / jaybirds wireless.
noise isolation/ cancellation very impt for me. hopefully can reach like those 3m protective earmuff kind of standard

Well, if you are looking at NC, there is no better brand than Bose and its QuietComfort x5 series.

The over-the-ear design actually helps as a passive noise cancellation and if that is not enough, they have active noise cancellation.

YOU have a couple of options now:

QuietComfort 20 (Ear buds)
QuietComfort 25 (Over the ear)

And later in Sep/Oct:

QuietComfort 35 (over the ear, wireless)
QuietControl 30 (ear buds via neckband)

If you are not in a hurry, you may wish to wait till later this year for the wireless version of the QuietComfort 25, which is QuietComfort 35.

Take note that the x5 series costs about S$50-75 more than the x0 counterparts.

Alternatively, you have the option of Plantronics Backbeat Pro at $279 ($100 off RRP), found on Carousell; like I told a few members before.

This pair of headphones is wireless and has noise cancellation too.

AptX is onboard for supported devices.

But aren't ear muffs generally either on the ear or over the ear? QC20 series is sitting on you ears like ear buds and not in-ear monitors, where the fit is more...intrusive.

If NC is important, I think you need to seal your entire ear with over the ear options.

It may get nasty if you perspire a lot like me.

Usually I let myself cool down before I put those (over the ear headphones) on while taking public transport.

I used to like over the ears but now that I wear glasses, it's very rare I find headphones which are comfortable for long period of time (or maybe I'm overly sensitive with a big head). The only two which I can wear for extended time are the Xbox Wireless Headset and the Creative EMU Walnuts.

I've tried quite a few others e.g. B&W P5's, Beats Studios, SoloHDs, Grado, HK Classics, etc but they all 'pinch' me too much.
