(Help) 25 Pin Parallel Port

Dear forum bro,

I recently brought a 2nd hand dot matrix printer online without realising it is on the old 25pin parallel port adapter.

Would appreciate any bro to recommend which shop (if SLS, please advise shop name) does sell the converter to USB.

If you're not in a rush to use the printer, can buy from Ebay, but must wait long long.

Cheap cheap at C$2.99 (~S$3.40). Buy at SLS most likely would be 2 to 5 times more expensive.


My bad. Didn't notice parallel port has 25 pins and 36 pins one.

But i think need to differentiate the 25pin and 36pin ones. If i'm not wrong, the pc side need the 25pin one.

@ykgoh eh you are not wrong leh. Just TS mentioned 25pin and i dunno what he wants.

iirc, the printer port is 36pin, pc port is 25pin. So the printer cable TS has should be 36pin on one end and 25pin on the other end. TS should go look at his cable. I think most of us here are busy chasing after the latest and greatest to remember how old stuff looks like.

So TS can either get a 36pin male parallel to usb.
Connect printer > new 36pin cable > pc.

Or get a 25pin female parallel to usb.
Connect printer > printer cable > new 25pin cable > pc.

I found the adapter at SLS. Needed it urgently.

Did a quick search and seems this questions been asked a few times.

SLS (3rd floor) sells the usb to parallel port adapter. Price range from 15 (no brand) to 35. It may be quite.exp but for urgent work... future forummer can try there.
