Hahahaha shiat I typed out a long as$ reply and tried to post and forum token reset or something and everything was gone. AHHHHHH!!!
Okay so I'm gonna have to cut it short abit. Where are you staying n1ck88?
Long story short since I'm too lazy to retype everything I wrote before, here's a breakdown but my review might be limiting considering I only stayed within the resort network and didn't venture out due to horror stories about rogue cab drivers.
- Mayang Sari is part of Nirwana Gardens which is a bunch of resorts in a network
- They have 30minute internal shuttle buses that go in a loop to the other resorts and recreational places
- They have 3 massage areas all under the same company. Anindya Spa is located at Mayang Sari but prices are 3 times of Anindya Health Club which is located at the Nirwana Resort Center (1hr traditional massage costs 379k or 40sgd), and there's Anindya Beach Massage which I did not see. Brochure and prices
here.
- Kelong Restaurant has a very nice view of sunsets, go by 6pm because sunset starts at about 610pm in Bintan. Prices are like local zi char, we ordered 4 seafood dishes and a veg and 2 drinks for 120sgd. Don't over-order like us, lol. (Try the salted egg and honey squid! Yums!)
- Mineral water is not as expensive as a SG cab driver made it out to be (he said $10 a bottle!). We bought Ice Mountain 1litre for $4.90 at the sg terminal and found Aqua brand 1litre for 20k rupiah or $2.10sgd at the Bintan terminal. Found same at hotel store for 30k rupiah or $3.10sgd. Also hotels usually give 2x 500ml a day so we didn't really need to buy. (Mayang Sari even gave us 2 cans of coke and 2 cans of sprite, lol.)
- There are sea sports and land activities like archery, airgun shooting, paintball all within the resort network.
- There is no place to buy local tidbits asides from at the Bintan Terminal. Mayang Sari had a store but I think everything is overpriced. A Shin big cup noodles was 50k argh. (I hear you can take a 30min cab ride out of the resorts to some place to buy but I didn't bother).
- There are a few shops at the terminal selling the same stuff, go to the one nearer to the main exit as the other shops are overpriced (or just check all shop prices before buying) A small kueh lapis was 50k at one place and 95k at the other shops, wtf.
- Avoid changing money at the sg terminal. I got 9299 there and 9825 at the Arcade the day before. That's 5bucks difference for every $100 changed.
Erm I ended up writing a lot anyway (still lesser than my previous attempt!). So yah, do share where you're staying and maybe I can share abit more if relevant.
