Hi,

I am trying to look for a small form factor PC to run MagicQ lighting software. I need to get it (4 GB RAM, CPU, at most 80GB HDD, inbuilt graphics is fine, win 7) plus basic (cheap) lcd monitor, $20 mouse and keyboard. I want to keep everything to about $500.

Anyone has any other suggestions on this?

I was looking at the recent launch MSI WIND BOX DC111 at $399, but so far not many reviews on it.

You can google intel NUC or you can use something like MSI Wind, Zbox.

I have looked at NUC, but I think it will not be within the budget since I have to add HDD and RAMs to it.

I believe the ZBOX is at $299SGD.

Add a 320gb 2.5inch HDD 5400rpm ~ $59

OR

Add a 320gb 2.5inch HDD 7200rpm ~ $70

Add Logitech MK120 Keyboard and Mouse Combo ~ $18

Find a monitor in garage sales that is going for $50 or $80.

And windows OS. You know what to do ;)

Hmm... ZBox - Let me check that out. Anyway, I found Dell has this new Optiplex 3020 Micro PC as well, and I am checking out the pricing on that. The i3 CPU on the Optiplex is out of budget, so asking for the Pentium Dual Core CPU pricing. Let's see how much it will be.

I know MSI Windbox is Intel Celeron CPU. I presume ZBox will be as well.

Cheapest Zbox is $199 for the Celeron. 4GB RAM is $50? Cheap china 64GB SSD or cheapest HDD is around $60? Cheapest monitor VGA only 18.5 inch is around $110? $40 more for 20 inch with DVI.

But does ZBox comes with CPU inside? From their specs in their website sounds like they don't.

On top of the mSata ssd, does the ID18 support adding a second 2.5" drive?
