I just replaced my existing Sapphire HD 5850 with the MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G graphics card.

Thereafter, my monitor displays nothing when booting up. I'm unable to even get to BIOS.

The following components in my current rig:

i5-2500k
Biostar TP67B+
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ CL9 x2
Sapphire 5850 Extreme 1GB PCI-E (working normally but replaced)
Toshiba SATA3 2TB
Seasonic M12-II 520W

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

Try swapping back to your 5850 and see if everything is back to normal.
If it's working fine then go download Display Driver Uninstaller and follow the instructions to uninstall your AMD driver and replace your 5850 with your GTX 960.

Hi Josquared,

You might want to try setting your monitor to detect which input first and see if it displays anything. If none, plug that monitor to another PC or a laptop to know if its working. Do make sure that the graphic card drivers for the right model is installed and the previous removed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the responses!

Monitor is definitely working!

But it's still not working now that I've put back the previous 5850, and quite a number of indicators on the mobo are flaring red. Does not bode well... :(

And yes, I believe I have the latest version of the BIOS installed.

I was using Displayport and DVI to VGA on two different monitors when trying to put back the previous Sapphire HD 5850.

And I've managed to boot into Windows with the MSI GTX 960! That came right after I re-seated the ram sticks and swapped out the HD 5850.

Using Displayport right now. ^^

Now i'm uninstalling the old drivers (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) as recommended by Maximus_XXVIII. :D

congrats :):)
still, suggest u clean ur rams since the oxidation on contact region likely caused the black screen/no post issue u faced earlier.
reseating may scrap off enough to work now, but clean better...

aye. thanks for your recommendations! saved me! even though i'm unsure how the rams got "dirty" in the first place. i don't recall shifting them ever since my last upgrade. oh well.. things are on their way to running smoothly now. ^^

Obviously, TS hit the ram module unknowingly while changing graphics cards. Ram is very sensitive, a slight brush is enough to make a boot failure.

all's running well now!

i'll definitely keep a lookout for the ram modules in future! :s13:

@hlots123 i went and cleaned the contact regions on the ram modules, and it turned out that, on one of them, there was a brownish blotch with about 1mm radius. scrubbed most of it off with eraser!

thanks to everyone's meaningful inputs! :flash::spin:
