[Help] Can't install Windows 8 on new rig

I used Rufus to make a bootable USB flash drive (Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0) from the W8 iso. When installing, it gives me a message right at the start:

A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.

Note: If the installation media for Windows is in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

After clicking OK, I get a blank "Select the driver to install" screen. This message has never happened to me before. I have no idea.

P/S: My rig doesn't have an optical drive. I'm using a bootable USB which is much faster.

You use usb3.0 or usb2.0 port?

You try bios boot from usb... And make sure is usb 2

Okay I tried NOT using Rufus, and instead creating a NTFS partition via disk management, then making it active, and transferring the iso contents over. Works like a charm

p/s: this method involves connecting my flash drive to a usb 3 port.

Question: why will USB3 port not work? If windows can't read from the drive because of missing drivers then how come it can boot from the drive in the first place?

Since you said this, meant that you already have windows installed on your current HDD which may have drivers installed already isn't it? But when you trying to install a fresh copy, it does not read files from your HDD but only the USB itself. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope, I formatted my flash drive on my laptop, while the installation thing is on my desktop.

Should just use USB 2.0 ba, USB 3 usually need drivers to run them.

Usually USB 3.0 bootable drives will only run into problems after loading into Windows setup stage.

But I managed to run in USB 3 without drivers, which is supposed to be impossible.

And also I have no idea what caused the problem in the first place. I'd just like to have an idea of the situation

I think you didn't read wholly… I've solved the problem since then but I want to know why the problem happened in the first place.

And I tried the W7 DVD tool but it gave me some error about missing .NET framework when though I already have it.

To add on, I just learned that UEFI doesn't support booting from NTFS drives, only FAT32.

Wtf is going on lol…
