I suggest trying to open up event viewer if you can get to the search bar to see the error produced by windows.
I suggest doing a system reformat and see how that works , it sounds more like a windows issue from what you've said rather then a hardware issue.

Had a similar issue on my laptop; System would hang a few minutes after startup [Cant move even my mouse]

The issue was "malfunctioning" drivers that caused the hanging of the whole laptop. What I did was start in safe mode [without anything, no Networking no nothing], updated ALL system drivers, ran CCleaner and doing a trial-and-error of start-up programs.

Do decide what programs starts up along with your system:
Start > type "msconfig" > go to the Services Tab and start the trial & error test. Everytime you apply you'll have to restart the laptop. Using this will tell you which software component of your system is causing the malfunction [hopefully]

Good luck with the test!

How long is your computer in service? If it run quite awhile you can try take out the ram & graphic card and clean the gold finger.

On the outlook, it seems like that it's due to the mb....but it could oso be due to OS corruption...try reinstall your OS to see if it fixes the problem...
