[Help!] computer slow boot up SUDDENLY?

HDD spec: Samsung 840 pro 256GB

Before problem occurs

- used to bootup very fast (in less than 8sec) everyday.
- Last night usage was normal, no weird symptoms.


current problem, out of sudden

- only started today, the bootup is very slow (more than a min)
- stuck at bios bootscreen for about 15sec, and window 7 logo for 45sec!!
- opening program is normal tho, only booting up is slow.

Suspect bad sectors if you are using hard disk.
Use HDTune to do a full normal scan.

Hi i do have a HDD as secondary drive.

my specs:

- boot drive (primary): Samsung 840 Pro SSD.
- Storage drive (secondary): WD 500GB Black.

Does slow bootup anything doing with my storage drive?

Remve the hdd and try booting up again. Easy way to see if its the problem

Yes, a failing drive can cause delay/hangup even if it only a secondary drive.

My bootup also abit slow leh did clean reinstall of os faster but after my windows logo will black screen for 5-10seconds than will go into login screen wondering why

hi guys some updates.

1. i removed my storage drive (HDD)
2. reboot my pc
3. got error message: reboot and select proper boot device (weird because my win7 is installed in my SSD and not HDD).
4. i re-connect my HDD.
5. Now it boot up normally.

What is happening previously?

yep confirm + chop my OS is booted in SSD only. HDD is nothing but mp3 and backups like skydrive directory.

the boot priority is always #1 on SSD and #2 Optical.

it is also set in ACHI, trim enabled.

How do you do that

In ur BIOS.. go play around with it. Read ur manual and find the boot priority in it.

I suspect your OS is on your SSD but the bootloader for Windows is somehow on your HDD. That's why your computer can't boot with the HDD not attached.

After disconnect HDD, boot to BIOS and select SSD as boot drive.

I suspect that your os in sdd. Bootloader in hdd. Causing you the error. Since you have fresh install the os. This time round try reinstall with just ssd only. Hdd remove. If it is fine most probably hdd bad sectors.

Actually no need to reinstall Windows. You disconnect your HDD then boot using Windows DVD/flash drive and let it do a repair installation. It'll reconstruct a new bootloader for you on your SSD this time. Once it's done, reconnect back ur HDD, enable all hidden folder view and delete all the boot loader files.

May i know where to check or delete the old bootloader files? i tried displaying hidden files but cannot find it anywhere.

ok i tried using kurtisnet's method of removing the HDD and repair the SSD using the OS installation CD.

Guess what? the setup cannot find any OS in my SSD to repair. But the thing is i really installed the OS in my SSD. As mentioned my HDD got nothing except mp3 and skydrive directory.

Now this is weird..

Probably all this while it is installed in hdd.
