It's oxidization not corrosion unless you live beside the sea.

Anyway it's not likely to turn your video into that, you've either got a bigger problem like a totally defective gfx or bad drivers/software.

So reformat will be ideal right?

Try downloading DDU to totally clean ur nvidia drivers and install the latest or 2nd latest driver.

If problem still persist, time to send it to service centre to get it checked.
