Hi,

below is my cpu temp without loading.
is this normal?

the problem is i played hearthstone and the PC just randomly shutoff without any warning.... just like somebody pulled the plug.

at first i thought its my seasonic psu and spent 99 to get another one. change to the new one and the same problem occurs.

went into bios and see temp at 80+ ...

does this means that the cpu is overloaded while playing games and it just auto shutdown the computer.

note that the pc is more than 5 years already... recently then encountered such problem.

any bro have experience with this? anyway to fix?

[1] Clean off all dust on the CPU heatsink / fan you are using
[2] Buy a syringe of Arctic MX4 in SLS
[3] Clean off the old thermal paste and reapply - pea size only in the middle
[4] Remount HSF
[5] Check temps and let us know again

PC shutting down looks like a CPU overheating issue.

Most of the forumers here including me swore by the performance of MX4 as thermal paste. Intel Stock HSF? Should be very easy to remove, go google youtube video and you will know.

yeah i think your thermal paste needs changing. or maybe cooler faulty because those are definitely not normal temps. as for thermal paste, you generally want those really good ones cause it makes a difference. arctic mx4 is good.

as for taking out the hsf, it's pretty easy. also you need isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth. go to youtube. alot of videos to help you.

oh yah if you're using a stock cooler and need something cheap and better than stock, i got a brand new cooler master vortex 211p cooler to let go. PM me if you're interested. comes with thermal paste.

Search for powergamer in vrz. They are selling mx4 at $11.90, +50cent for postage. At most wait 2-3 days for postage delivery.

actually there's a few ways to apply. want to spread can but dont spread also can. many people follow different ways. best is you go youtube and find. explain to you here cannot be as effective as you watching someone do it on video right?

just search 'how to replace thermal paste'. there's ALOT of videos for even the most noobs of noobs to understand.

Guardian selling isopropyl alchohol. $4.

Make sure mounting is done properly. Use pea size in the center of the chip, if mounted properly, the thermal will spread out evenly to form a large round spot.

Did you remove the dust on the intake/exhaust of your chassis?

Cool/room temp air might not be going in efficiently
