Hello all,

I am not good with computer as my computer was DIY by my uncle last time and recently I have had some power surge problems with the PSU and ODD as it can't be ejected. I thought it was a problem with my PSU and changed it to a 650W Seasonic Bronze but in my BIOS it's showing red values for my 12V and the value can go up to 13V.

Also in my BIOS menu one of my fan RPM is always in red at ~450RPM but the rest are running at the right values at ~780RPM from quite some time back but I still could not find out the reason. Would like to ask the expert views of forum members here.

These are my specs right now.

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-2500K + ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
HSF: Xigmatek Gaia
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 CL9 8GB Dual Channel Kit [Blue]
GPU: Sapphire HD 6950 Dirt3 1GB X2 Crossfire
SSD: Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB [SATA III]
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB [SATA III]
ODD: Lite-On 24X CD/DVD Writer [Retail] @ $26 OR Sony 24X CD/DVD @ $29
PSU: FSP Aurum 750w [80 Plus GOLD] @ $179 NOW: Seasonic M12II Bronze 620W
CASE:Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced (With USB 3.0) @ $140

Additional info: I'm running a 23" Dell monitor and the games I play are usually MMORPG like ArchAge or simply Dota 2.

I would like to 1) seek advice from you guys on what to do so that my computer can continue working. I got the replacement PSU from a friend that has no use for it for free but just simply comparing the W I kinda knew it was on the lower end for the spec of my system. Would appreciate any input.

and

2) Recommend me parts that I could probably upgrade since the last time I did anything to it was 3-4 years back and some of the parts might already be obsolete.

My main priority would be just to solve the issues that I have with my computer right now for as little cost as possible. For the upgrades I guess I am thinking to put aside like $800. If it is more worthwhile grabbing a new DIY altogether do let me know too.

Thanks and regards.

Only one option, sell both your HD 6950 and get GTX970 SLI but the performance gain will be less than 50%.

It's likely that your graphic cards are drawing more power on the 12V rails than your PSU can supply. I suggest you try the Arum with only one graphics card. If this works fine, then you can confirm it is the PSU.

Do I sell it to a computer shop or do I sell it just on an online platform?
