Hi, just assemble my first rig and when I boot up the pc, the monitor is not detected so is the keyboard and mouse. Any ideas on what went wrong?

Maybe your stuffs never connect properly... Try plug in everything again lo

Put it into the back usb 2.0 if there is.

Monitor must see if you have gpu installed please connect direct to the gpu. Check gpu do you have any pci cable power connected?

yes, pci cable is connected and tried at the back with usb 2.0 slots.

your mother board have display port or not? connect to them if have. your gpu the fan got run or not? what is your spec?

Is ur monitor displaying hdmi or VGA?? Must make sure the monitor display the right setting depending on which port u connect. I made that mistake once. Settings can be change using just the monitor itself.

You can also double check if the monitor is connected to the graphics card, not the mobo. Happened to me for mine.. hahahahaha

I have the display port and usb that came tgt from the monitor, do I need a cable for the vga adapter for my graphic card?

bro, do you mean that the USB that is not working is from your monitor?

CPU > monitor > keyboard and mouse?

are you connecting without cable from your graphic card to you monitor now? you only plug in a usb cable and a power cable right?, if yes then i know why you have no display

okay thanks, I will get a cable and try again. Any idea on what's going on with the usb port though? I think I might not be getting something right as the case fan doesn't spin when power up, I tried all the usb slots (front and back) none of them are detecting the keyboard.

I'm using the display port on my motherboard display port, no cable from the graphic card adapter as it a different cable as my previous monitor.

Until now, i have not seen any model of ur monitor. Maybe TS shld state it so that we can see what connections it have.

Model is dell u2412m.

In that case, for the kb and mouse to work off the monitor, u need to connect the included usb cable frm monitor to ur pc. From there, den can use usb peripherals.

As for video output, try using their included cable which shld b dvi. Can presume your gpu have dvi as well.

I did connect the usb I got tgt with the monitor but didn't get connection. The graphic card came with VGA adapter, will get the cable and try & see. Do I still need to keep the display port connected to the motherboard when I have the dvi cable on graphic card?

Connect to gpu. Dun connect to mobo if u gt gpu. Try use the cable provided by the monitor.

thanks for the help. The monitor just came with a display port so I'll take it as I need to get a dvi cable to fit the adapter instead?

The U2412M has DVI and DP connections. If your GPU also has DVI output there's no need for an adapter. Just get the DVI cable, connect the GPU and monitor with it, and you're set.

Get ur terms right 1st. Ur monitor have dp, dvi, vga ports. Ur gpu have dp, hdmi, dvi ports(if its a later gen card). Use either a dp to dp cable or dvi to dvi cable or hdmi to dvi. Try nt to use the vga to dvi adaptor.

What's the GPU you're using anyway? Brand/model etc.
