Hi I exceeded my data plan this month and I am like 6 days more to another new month.

Should I get a data only SIM pre paid card put in my spare phone and use it as a hotspot for my main phone?

Or I should get a dongle and put in the data only pre paid SIM?

Thanks

I have exceeded 497mb, less then 1 GB now. is it too ex to get a dongle and sim only data sim card to use as a hot spot?

Is it better to just get a data only SIM put in my spare phone and use that phone as a hotspot to let my main phone connect to the hotspot?

My iphone do not have dual sim slot.

I am looking at this

[hi!Tourist $15 SIM Card

Valid for 7 days
4G 100GB local data
Unlimited3
FacebookWhatsapp LINE WeChat
500 minutes local calls1
100 local SMS
30 minutes international calls]

USB Dongle itself retails for quite a lot, especially those LTE (4G) ones. You're better off using your old phone as a hotspot, or just pay for like at least 3-5GB of overages (3G dongles cost around $30-50 new, 4G dongles cost about $100.)

M1 and StarHub also have tourist prepaid SIM plans, also 7 days 100GB, but at only $12.

Depend on you type of plan and if for Data Plan bundle as part of the mobile plan.

For data bundled plans (mobile and mobile broadband), excess local data usage is chargeable at $10.70 per 1GB block, capped at a maximum of $188.32* per billing month.

So let say if the rate is $0.000107 per 1KB example.

The above chart is an indication on the actual charges on usage on mobile data.

This means you are now charged $10 (+gst) for 497mb.
Might as well to continue to reach close to 1GB or less.

Do activate > Data Usage Alert in the mobile line account.

In this way you will be warned the second it hit the % and once it reached you have to turn off the mobile data of the mobile line number.

I bought the M1 prepaid SIM at $12 which is cheaper then Stinktel. I plan to use it on my xiaomi phone and use it as a hotspot but i read that it oftens disconnect?

It'll auto cut for a few second on 4G connection every 100MB is hit within a short while (like <30 mins). So don't bother using speedtest. Video streaming should be fine, so do web browsing & social media etc.

Short while is really just a few seconds. M1 4G -> M1 3G/H+ -> M1 4G again within 10-15 secs normally. Only happens on Prepaid Mobile, and also if you're using M1 4G. If use on 3G only never see that happen before.

has similiar situation before. my solution is:
buy a prepaid SIM with dsta plan and put it to the Main phone, and swop the Msin phone SIM card to Spare phone for call and SMS only. in this wsy Whatsapp and other prog still can use as usual. hassle free.

Oh i kinda like your idea since i use my main phone to surf net whatsapp etc. But if i changed my main phone line out to my spare phone for calls and sms i have no issue about that.

How about if i put the prepaid data sim to my main phone for whatsapp etc will the number changed etc and the whatsapp group changed with regards to me changing my number?

The WhatsApp app will ask if you want to change number or not, just don't change. Your WhatsApp / Telegram / LINE / WeChat etc won't change number unless you instruct them to.

well the choices is still up to u which move u want. but just take note of using at least 1 gb since u already exceed. next pity play is the pretty much the same for all telecom...(basically no use). once u exceed means exceeded...

and since u are using android phone. u can always use the phone data usage as a notification. to tell u that u have reach and cut u off. (but do take its a est or rough gauge, and u still need to check this on your own with singtel app.)

Most telcos have the SMS service where they will send you a text when you are nearing ur data limit.

M1 does it for free.
