Help feel depressed

Hi I been depressed lately at the prospect of me graduating with a degree at 27. I was in normal academic stream and got into banking and finance in ngee ann. But i took a year off due to medical reasons. I will be 20 this year and have 2 more years to go along with ns. Is it too old to be considered as a fresh graduate seeing how most fresh graduates would be 25 and 26.

Also i see how certain overseas universities offer 2 year programmes. Does this mean with a diploma i can skip a year off if lets say i want to enter into a business degree? Please advice thank you.

yup private uni takes shorter time, but its only 1yr difference as compared to local uni. so if u qualified for local uni, just go for it.
unless u have financial issue, then that will be a different plan.

I think you worry too much about your age.
- University have a different demographic, you will definitely see people of similar age and circumstances as you.
- If you worry about losing out to younger graduates, then be extra hard working by taking on more good internships. You can easily accumulate a least 3 internships for a 4 year degree.

Have you graduated from NP? How did you score? Your GPA?
Those private institution's foreign degrees usually require relevant diploma because they are 2 year degrees. Exemptions are already given for those degrees, thus you will start directly at year 2 and graduate in year 3
- Those without relevant diploma or from A Levels will have to take their private diploma course or bridging course.

If your GPA allows, I suggest you consider applying for Singapore universities.

You'll be working until you're, what, around 60? The few years behind your peers are insignificant when you consider your working life as a whole. At most keep fit, eat healthy, and you'll be able to grind out a few more years to work.

bro TS, i'm 24 this year and just started a 2 year program. meaning i will graduate when i am 26.

what you have here is what i would call an age ego.

if you want a better future and you have the resources to study, why give a damn about your age?

you want to sit around and worry if you are too old to study or you want to regret later and ask yourself why you didnt study when you are able to?

Doesn't matter if you are 25, 30 or 45. As long as you're healthy and have positive attitude, you can find work anywhere.

Do not worry; slow and steady makes the way.

As for universitiy exemptions, yes, if you study in the same exact discipline as you did in your diploma, say you did banking and finance in NP, then did exactly the same banking and finance discipline in your degree, then yes, you do get exemptions, you can finish around in 2 years (if you are doing the course in Singapore) or maybe even 1.5 yrs (if you are doing it overseas; if you can afford it). Note that this does not apply to local universities like NUS, NTU and SMU.

sorry my bad. 25 going 26 since i will end my term on dec 2016. Graduation should be the next year.

What I feel is that age actually does not matter here. The important thing is to have and possess a positive mindset towards studying. As learning is considered to be a lifelong process, therefore studying at any age should be all right and because guys still need to serve NS. The important thing is your attitude and positive mindset that u have towards your studies. A lot of uni grads like myself are around that age such as 24, 25, 26, 27 when u grad. So no worries man. I think no matter what age doesnt matter.. what matters is whether you can find a job.. I graduated more than a year ago and I am still jobless.. lol..
