(wonder if 3 x QNIX QX2710 LED Evolution II True10 DVI HDMI Displayport Multi 27inch 2560x1440 can do the work?)

Mainly use for: BF/GTA/NFS/Dota2/COD/WAR GAMES/Tropico4/Sims city/Stream HD content/Surf/Torrent
not going to overclock
no need peripherals
budget @ 4-5k for above
not a professional gamer thus if the different for item is not noticeable i would choose the cheaper options

1) Name all 'War Games' and 'RPGs' that you are playing.

2) Erm, 3X 1440p monitors are very demanding to drive, can go for 3X 1080p monitors instead?

3) Which Red Harbringer casing are you referring to?

4) Why do you need WD Blacks for storage?

Erm, any idea of the GPU clearances of your Cross Desk? Can some of the HDD bays be removed for better GPU clearance?

wow.. I Think its possible.. as the bay can be detached
Nevermind about the detachable bays, think your desk has a GPU clearance of approx 320mm even with the HDD bays. The longest R9 290X GPUs with triple fans are only at most 310mm long, so still got plenty of space.

Must have cost a bomb to ship this desk here.

CPU+ Mobo: MSI Z97S SLI PLUS + i5 4460 (434)
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS-X 1600MHZ ( 4GBx2pcs ) CL9 (115)
GPU: 2X ZOTAC GTX 980 4GB AMP (1598)
SSD: CRUCIAL MX100 256GB (160)
HDD: WD 2TB RED (131)
OS: WINDOWS 7 HOME PREM (120)
Monitor:3X DELL S2440L (687)

Total cost: $3245

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, get PC Themes to assemble for you for a fee.

Notes:

1) This rig should be capable of driving a triple 1080p monitor setup in most games at max settings. However, you may want to go easy on the AA in some of the more demanding games like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and maybe GTA V and any future FPS games that you wish to play.

2) Got Mastercard? Consider buying the GPUs from lazada.com on a Monday and get 10% discounts when you pay with a Mastercard. Do note that discounts are capped at $50 and it is best that you buy the GPUs seperately.

is it recommended to go for 2 x R9 290X instead?
In your case, no. The R9 290X is weaker than the GTX 980 and also produces more heat and consumes more power as well. Besides, Crossfire profiles are currently not supported in Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare and you may have issues playing this game with a Crossfire setup or playing using a triple monitor setup with a single R9 290X.

In short, you are going to need all the GPU power that you have and unless you want to OC the R9 290X, crossfired R9 290X GPUs may be an inferior solution to a pair of SLIed GTX 980s.

1) Zotac is the one with a 5 year warranty, not Leadtek. Both Leadtek and Palit have a 3 year warranty on their GPUs.

2) Can buy from the Dell website, but it might cost more.

If you want Gigabyte, can get the Gigabyte Z87X-D3H ($521 with i5 4690) or the Z97X-UD3H ($521 with i5 4690).

Not sure if it is OK to get the i5-4690 as the 0.3-0.5Ghz bump from a i5 4460 is going to give you an extra 1-3 FPS at best.

Also, generally, games will not use more than 8GB of RAM and 8GB of RAM is sufficient for your games, assuming that you do not wish to do other things like torrenting or watching a movie/video while gaming. The $225 pricetag is for DDR3-1600 16GB RAM kits.

The monitors can be brought from PC Themes.

You can use either boards. They're both compatible and cheaper.

I have 8gb ram. I have more than 10 tabs open in Chrome, a movie on pause, torrent in the background downloading, and all tabbing in starcraft 2. No issues whatsoever. So rethink the ram, unless you're using ram intensive programs you won't need 16gb. I'd suggest get one 8gb stick. In the future get another 8gb.

The difference is negligible, even when comparing 1333 and 2600 for most tasks. In gaming? No visible difference.
