[HELP] Graphics issue with computer

Hi Guys, i have been having this graphics related issue with my computer for quite some time now, but have not been able to diagnose the problem. Been advised to seek some views here. While using my computer, the screen will suddenly become blank and flash white/other colors. Sometimes it will recover, sometimes not and i will have to force restart. Usually only happens when i am doing less intensive stuff such as Msoft word or browsing firefox. It has never happened when i was gaming on warzone.

As can be seen on the 2nd video, sometimes can still see some remnants of the original screen but its heavily distorted. Computer is non responsive, have to force restart.

I have brought my PC down to tech dynamic and they have run stress test but no issues. And i have tried uninstalling nvidia drivers with DDU and reinstalling latest already. Also have tried setting "prefer maximum performance" on nvidia 3d settings.

Have you tried using a different port on the GPU and your monitor? Is your GPU plugged firmly into the PCIe slot? Try removing cable extensions if you are using one.

Otherwise it seems like a case of a dying GPU, get an RMA and show them the video. Be firm with your request.

I left my PC with tech dynamic to test for 4 days and the problem didnt occur but i did show them the video. They also took out the GPU and tried it on other systems and there was no problem.

By Cable extensions you mean from GPU to monitor? im not using any for both my monitors. Wondering if its GPU problem how come when gaming no issue at all?

With regard to RMA there was some issue because apparently i didnt register online within 28 days of buying this card so i don't get the 2+3 years (Zotac). so its technically out of warranty (bought it in Dec 2016).

Download Nvidia inspector (note: inspector, not profile inspector).

Then go to multidisplay power Mgmt. Enable it to force p8 power state on your gpu. Test if the issue goes away. If it does, it means your gpu has issues switching between powerstates which then points to faulty VRMs or power switching.

Can go to sls to get them guys there to diagnose.

1. when did it start happening?after certain major update? blackout? certain parts change?
2. what have u done on your part to try to fix the issue? bios update? driver update?
3. do you have spare parts to try? extra gpu to slot in to see if issue reoccur.

last time my 750ti literally when in dota2 immediately had the same issue as yours. go rma office, they test infront of me say no problem, which i verified, but i knw it happens. end up i go sls ask for a space to try to troubleshoot, immediately when i run again smoke came out of my pc from the gpu. what im trying to say here is people might not be able to replicate your issue, but it doesnt mean there is no issue.

from face value, i would guess that win 10 did an auto major update and you started facing this issue. i would suggest to
1. look for zotac driver update, since it seems like a driver issue.
2. look for bios update, for btr compatibility with older hardware on newer windows version

From what i can remember, i updated to windows 2004 and there were many issues with it so i rolled backed to 1909 back in June, that was around when the errors started. Also i replaced my motherboard and CPU in March (not sure if this will affect).

i did nvidia driver clean installation. As for BIOS i have not updated as i heard that doing it wrongly will cause the computer not to be able to start. Also no experience updating BIOS

sadly i dont have a spare GPU lying around.

As for zotac driver will this be different from the latest nvidia drivers? cause i thought just need to have latest from nvidia.

I have downloaded the program and was trying to find the multidisplay power mgmt. only found multi display power saver.
But not sure what happened but now it says i have no permission to access the file when i click on nvidiainspector.

can u share your full specs?

you mentioned nvidia driver clean installation, when u uninstall did u check the checkbox that says delete driver files or smt like that?

this needs to be ticked for clean installation

are u open to reinstalling windows?

and keep the version at 1909 instead of going up to 2004.

since u mention issue only started once u messed around with 2004, a clean install should clear up any corrupted file/driver issue

hmm i havent tried this yet. ok i will back up my files and try a reinstall.

i had a similar problem with nvlddmkm but with a slightly different symptom that seemed to go away by doing the following

nvdia control panel, manage 3d settings, global settings, set power management mode to prefer maximum performance

- Reseat the graphic card.
- Download the graphic card driver
- Disconnect/disable internet
This is to prevent Windows from updating the graphic after you
uninstall it.

- Uninstall the graphic driver until you see
Microsoft Basic Display driver as well as High definition audio.
- Install the graphic driver

If still the same than have to install AMD Chipset driver see how.
If not have to try to reinstall Windows from scratch.
(Reset and clean install are two different methods.)

Yes, that's the one. you need to run as Admin (for me, i just run normally).

I just used the "reset my PC" option in windows with keep my personal files. Then i disconnected internet and uninstall driver and installed latest nvidia. Now reinstalling my apps. will monitor and see how if the problem re-occurs.

- Disconnect/disable internet
This is to prevent Windows from updating the graphic after you
uninstall it.

- Uninstall the graphic driver until you see

Try to change your PC power cable. If lucky will continue to work for awhile, then the problem will come back and eventually will fail.

Looks like it didnt work, halfway through installing apps the problem came back.

so my friend tried resetting his PC and it became markedly worse. not connected to internet. only installed drivers from NVIDIA website. No windows updates applied yet.

He can only use the computer for 1 minute after login and the screen goes poof

Strangely, he does not report seeing any screen tearing at UEFI boot time, i.e. the MSI logo

Just out of interest. Have u tried using just either dp or hdmi? Better still, use DVI d if available

Managed to download this program before the issue starts and now forcing performance state limit at P8 as advised. Hopefully this solves the problem.
