Help! Harddrive and window error

Hi,
I am a complete newb over IT stuff. I have an old comp build by my friend. Though i wish not to disturb him always so i would like to learn myself.

Currently i have this error:

I'm unable to download upgrade my window 7 and
STA1-L harddrive error.

How to settle with the harddrive? If i can't enter and backup nor save before rebooting?

well i cant find any info on the error code u have. tried googled it up but no results.

and what are r u trying to do. download upgrade my window 7 (like from which version to win7?)

den just buy a hdd enclosure and bad up it some where (laptop or pc)

Thx for the reply, i did those too also no answer....though i not sure if my harddrive is already at it's limit. Have to check.

but are u sure of the error code pop out when u are installing win7? or downloading it?
