The HDMI on my 6 year old Notebook works fine transmitting sound and picture to my Smart TV.

But the HDMI port on my 2 year old desktop although transmitting pictures doesn't transmit sound unless I disconnect the connections from my desktop to my computer screen.

Why is that?
Can I do something to solve this problem so I don't have to disconnect and reconnect the desktop to the computer screen when I want to watch stuff on my TV.

The device (Smart TV ) is detected and shown as working correctly in the Device Manager, and the picture from the desktop is shown on the TV but I can't get any sound from the Smart TV Home Cinema system unless I take out the audio jack (which supplies sound to the desktop monitor speakers ) from the back of the desktop itself.
This is a bit of a bind and I was wondering if there was any way round this???

You can only output sound to either one.

I tried outputting sound to my speaker and headset using the steromix config, but the second one will have slight delay in sound.

Thanks.

I can get picture on both (TV screen and computer monitor ) simultaneously.
It seems strange to me that sound is one or the other.

When connected to my laptop both picture and sound are simultaneous.
