Help! How to get started with e-Books?

I ended up with a Galaxy Note II 10.1 for the sole purpose of reading News (not local), e-Books for both myself and son and watching cycling Videos.

After considering the myriad of options available, I went psychedelic and decided against the Kindle, Nook Kobo since the content are not available here at all. Yes there are those that manage to "work-around" but that is just a lot of work for me, though I am IT conversant.

I just want to read books. What do you recommend as I still think a dedicated reader is preferred. I'm not too excited about the reflection on the Note II, whilst reading news. I managed to get the Kobo and Overdrive app installed but still find it a challenge when looking for books.

I'm not even sure this is the right forum to post and ilovebooks.com just died.

they are many channels to get ebooks, and i would not get fixated on only one of them. download the Kindle app, create an amazon account if you have not. Do the same for Kobo and Nook, creating an account on their respective website. Zinio is another recommended app for android.

i bought books and magazines on all the said platforms and they work very well for me. usually i read reviews from the newsletters and promotions received in emails sent by them and decided to buy or not. when on sale, magazines can go for less than $1 per issue and books for less $3.

on kindle hardware, i use Calibre's feed/RSS for international news. on android i place a bookmark shortcut to google news, and its international editions.

Using the Kindle and other eink readers may not be as difficult as it looks. While it's true that one may need to go through the hoops, many have also been successful without needing to jump through any. Just try and see if you can change your Amazon account settings to the US store; you'll find the whole catalogue there.

or try get hold of the Samsung Note 8, heard and saw from youtube they have "reading Modes" that reduce glare alot...
